They just added Appendix G.

If it’s not reviewable, why the 18 minute delay

Had to find a way to not let it end that way.
I kind of agree.

It’s not a great look for the Tennessee coach for protesting

Alternatively, they could just do what they are required to do?

I can guarantee you that this particular situation WILL be addressed before next season.

I’m curious if this play had been APPEALED rather than reviewed, what the outcome might have been. Don’t know the differences with baseball and softball rules, but in baseball, a missed touch of a base is an appeal play. The home plate umpire SHOULD have been looking for the touch and everything, but they cannot make a call, the defensive team would have to appeal.

Would any team want to win on a technicality? She actually hit a home run. Thats not disputable.

I could see the angst if it was a stolen base situation, but she hit the ball over the fence.

Right? Its akin to a tochdown being called back because of a celebration penalty

I have seen 8-9 year olds lose a playoff game because a kid missed a base on a home run. It happens. College aged women should know better.

Not a great way to win but certainly a reason to lose.

They did. On a base running error. And the rule was ignored, thus the protest

I wonder if any tenn player coach saw it real time or if someone’s watching broadcast or replays. I think officials got it right. Not sure what’s considered an assist but didn’t anything more than touching her arm.

Yeah, the rule is the rule. Horrible way to get knocked out of the tournament.

Is there a good way?

Was that girl going to go back and touch it if that girl didn't drag her back?

Sure didn't look like it and not sure why anyone would think so, sounds like the definition of an assist.

Not until she touches all four bases, it’s the equivalent of a slide at the plate and catcher misses tag and runner never touches the plate, the act of scoring a run has/was never completed.

We see it all to often in football, I’ve never, ever seen a ref say well, you tried really hard we’re giving you a TD or the booth say yeah we’re not touching that, unreviewable.

To me it appeared, she was being told to go back and touch home. I didn’t think the other player was dragging her, just caught up in the moment.

Agree.
I thought I heard them say if a player on the field of play assists them, it is ok. It is an out if a player from dugout touches the player and assists. IIRC.
Still sucks for UTenn.

Much rather them than ooclah - UCLA

I don’t have a dog in the fight. Selfishly happy for a few more innings until chicken comes off the grill.
