The "Big 3" is referenced because, historically, there are 3 main sports in America.

Is that in dispute?

I don't watch either on purpose so I don't know which I watch more. WBB is on more so probably that. I imagine most guys are the same way.

Baseball is considered in the "Big 3" at...

The top half of SEC, ACC, Pac12/West coast schools & maybe some Big 12

The rest of you are just the laughing stock of college baseball & that's why its not part of the "Big 3"

No one is saying WBB is bigger than baseball, but baseball is consideraly behind mens basketball and football

College baseball is essentially having the same problems as mens soccer in colleges.

There are other means (minors or strait pro) to get to the professional leagues and the best players bypass the college system.

Americans want to see the best product. Pro leagues obviously take the viewers in these sports while the NCAA has done a great job of retaining viewers for football and basketball by selling a different experience.

I don't enjoy watching baseball because the game is too slow for me. A lot of people mirror this statement, as evidenced by the trend down in MLB viewership.

Just the way it is.

MLB viewership is down nationally, but not regionally. Most fans only want to watch their team play, which is not true of other sports. Because of this, national numbers for each individual game is down, but if you look at the ratings in the two cities involved in the games, the trend is actually *up* for viewership within the TV markets.

Popularity in this Country is not necessarily a metric of true quality and/or entertainment. CAse in point:

1. Alabama
2. Paris Hilton
3. Kardashians...or however you spell it.
5. NASCAR
6. Obama

I could go on, but my point is pretty freaking solid.

College baseball will always be unpopular in the northeast and upper midwest. Lots of TV population and basketball fans live in those regions. Espn hates college baseball and that's one reason why. Nothing to see here.

Not in pro sports , however very much so in college and below.

Baseball does not have the following it once did. And is so far behind football and basketball, that it shouldn't be referenced as a big 3.

If you look at trends in youth sports. Of the youth that play ( beginner leagues to high school). Of the youth that play sports , 40% choose football and/or Basketball, while baseball is down to 24% and soccer is up to 20% ( stats from ESPN article July 2013) More than likey baseball and soccer are even closer today. Your data is skewed because you are citing fat and lazy kids that would rather play video games. Or maybe your data is correct but the reason is not baseball (refer to fat lazy kids that would rather play video games). When I was a kid in the summer time we would play baseball from early morning until late afternoon.

Baseball is better than basketball imo. I said my opinion, me not anyone else and I'll continue to watch and follow it at the college level as long as I am alive. It will always be in the Big 2 in my world.

Let's be honest. Some sports, like baseball and hockey, are meant to be watched in person. They just don't have anything approaching the same appeal on TV. You could argue that football is meant to be watched in person, and that's true, but it at least works fairly well on TV as well, at least in this age of high def, computer synching, and multiple cameras.

My data is not skewed. It is based on kids that play youth sports.
Read all the data before you assume.

College baseball is semi-big in the SEC for schools that don't have pro teams, like LSU or Arkansas, or the MS schools.

Schools that have pro teams, college baseball is god awful.

It's one thing I will never give Mizzou fans shite for because the Cardinals run the state, and then you have the Royals with a decent following. College baseball isn't even on 99.99% of those peoples radar, it's down there with lacrosse. I will watch about 155-160 Cardinals games this season, just like every other season, and attend a handful of games... I check the box score if I remember to see what Arkansas did usually on Sunday, about it. May watch a game or two if it's a big game on SECN and the Cardinals aren't on.

And when you watch/follow pro baseball, college baseball is damn near unwatchable because 9/10 it is awful, awful baseball. It is equal to watching Akron in basketball after going to a Cleveland Cavaliers game. Night and day different game. Hell I'd rather go watch the Springfield Cardinals Double A team than damn near any Arkansas game.
