somethin’s gotta give. There’s going to be a high watermark for salaries. What will it be? With regular season and post-season game attendance on the decline, tv and endorsement money will start drying up. Boosters won’t be able to shoulder the entire burden. Will the schools have to raise tuition to help? Professors and admin will not be happy.

Somethin’ gotta give.

You realize attendance =/= revenue, right?

Ticket prices will increase because they will reduce quantity for quality imo

TV contracts are the main reason coaches salaries are rising.

There’s a strong correlation. Sponsors aren’t going to be as willing to continue to shell out money if they don’t see butts in the seats. TV revenue will be effected. I think the transfer portal will turn some purists away. There will be a high level mark for salaries. There has to be.

Welp since the TV revenue just went up about $10 million per team.. I doubt much if anything is going to change

The schools are going to have to make attendance easier and a better experience. Much more availability of mobile phone bandwidth in and outside the stadium.

Some schools are going to figure out high end food/beverage service outside the stadium.

More kid friendly activities

LSU has taken some baby steps. I am sure other schools are as well.

Post game traffic is awful in BTR. Having been to Tuscaloosa and Auburn and Athens many times their post game traffic is bad as well.

Yes, when ESPN pays literally 35 times what CBS was paying for one SEC game per week coaches salaries are doomed.

And live sports are almost the only thing on TV that people actually watch live and don’t skip through al the commercials.

Over 90% of the 100 top rated telecasts every single year are live sports starting with the NFL and then college football.

Football is the holy grail to advertises. Notice how every bowl game was televised regardless of attendance?

More people watching on tv isn’t gonna hurt the tv money. The next round of contracts is gonna provide a lot more money.

You aren’t too smart huh? Ever think that attendance is declining because more people rather stay at home and watch on their HD TVs than deal with the parking and $10 beers at the stadium?

This is an interesting topic as high Education in general is changing.

the years of people going off to college are coming to a close.

why would you pay extra to go and stay on campus at a 4 year college when you can stay at home and do the shite on a laptop?

More and more students are getting jobs out of high school and snagging degrees online in their spare time.

I wonder how this will ultimately affect college football?

*source I work in higher education in Georgia.

It won't happen until the CBS contract ends or is bought out, but it will increase $20 million per team, not $10 million.

None of these cities were ever designed with the idea that, on certain days of the year, there would be a sudden 100k jump in population.

It would take a MAJOR infrastructure overhaul to prepare for something like that; especially towns like Auburn where the stadium is greater than its own population.

Maybe Neyland Stadium will expand seat widths from 16" to 17"...

My fear is that the football programs are making so much money, you start to hear a louder drumbeat to separate more from the universities. Title 9 is part of the reason, but moreso these programs are bringing in 100s of millions and feel that they are less competitive the more they give back to the schools. Plus they want to attract a wider fanbase of rednecks who never set foot on campus except to go to games. It's going to be a nasty transition. They should go the other way and flip the finger harder to non-alumni by jacking up those ticket prices even more while allowing people who actually attended and have a vested interest in the school bigger discounts. But it's too late unfortunately. LSU will be first to go as the new AD has already basically told the poors school to gtfo.
