When SEC basketball was trash years ago. Equivalent to winning the B12 in baseball. Congrats, I guess?

No, NC State can upgrade and drive up the price on Wade at the same time. win-win for them.

You mean when they had a final four team, two elite 8 teams, 4 sweet 16 teams, and 7 tournament teams lol

That year had 2 seeds Tennessee, Kentucky, and 4 seed Auburn who was an eyelash away from the title game. LSU beat all those teams that year.
I don’t want him back at LSU.

I do. Can you imaging a "good" coach at LSU? That would be a problem.

How so? LSU doesn’t have an opening
Posted on 3/25/26 at 12:52 pm to Jack Daniel
LSU has an opening for Will Wade. Nobody else. So, it will be entertaining to watch.

I love how this gets repeated like how "Lane Kiffin has never won anything" got repeated.
Please tell me the college baskeball coach with multiple Sweet 16s that LSU basketball could realistically hired.
And then tell me the college football coach with multiple national titles or conference titles that LSU football could realistically hired.
Anytime I ask these simple questions, I get crickets.

Michigan's coach took FAU to the final 4 and Nate took Bufallo to their first tournament ever.
Wade took 1 lsu team to the sweet 16.
Also Bama wasn't even making the tourney consistently before Oats.
Oats us a much better coach than Wade and its nit close.

If this isn't "good" then what do you consider to be good?
2017–18: 18–15 (NIT)
2018–19: 28–7 (NCAA Sweet 16)
2019–20: 21–10 (NCAA Tournament canceled)
2020–21: 19–10 (NCAA Tournament)
2021–22: 22–11 (NCAA Tournament)

All we truly want at LSU is someone that can get to the tournament every year, and Wade is the only coach outside of Dale Brown to get there consistently and the last time Brown went as many years in a row as Wade was 1989-1993.

This is a reasonable response. The problem on this board is that 90 percent of lsu fans act like Wade is a top 10 coach.
Making the tourney should be an expectation for a good coach in the SEC.
Wade is solid, but his tournament resume really isnt impressive. Hes a good coach who had a great team once.
At NC State he could easily replicate that in a few seasons. NC State probably has more basketball history than LSU.

Yeah, LSU was practically like Gonzaga before he got there.
In his 5 seasons, he went to the NIT, then the sweet 16, then COVID cancelled the season, then round of 32 against a 1 seed, then fired before the tournament. He then took McNeese to two tournaments and had a tournament upset last year. Now just got NC State into the tournament after them going 12-19.
I think if he was at a school long enough without suspension/COVID/firing he’d have a pretty good run. He hasn’t had remotely the same circumstances at Nate Oats.

Welcome to what coaches do with Texas resources anytime we have an opening. It’s annoying as a fan for sure

Pretty sure he has zero baw.
LSU suspended him on 3/8/2019 before the tournament started and was not reinstated until 4/14/2019 after the tournament was over.
That would be like Chris Beard claiming Texas Elite Eight run in 2022 after he was removed from the team.

Find me one post from a LSU fan that says Will Wade is a top 10 coach in America
