Iowa would make more sense but I agree, no.

He’s 55 years old. Who wants to spend the last 8-12 years of his career rebuilding?

Stoops will not leave Kentucky. This may be his last job before retiring. I mean he's in the SEC and really seems to like it there. Trust me, he's had other offers but apparently turned them down. I don't know what his salary is but it's probably not too shabby being in this conference.

A foolish move is he left KY for any of those options.

Making about 6.5 million this year with opportunity to make more if he gets to 10 wins, a bowl win etc.

It’s not a trend for head coaches to leave the SEC for other conferences. Usually the other way round.

Florida State has already offered Stoops and he turned them down. Welcome to a couple of years of ago OP.

I guess Iowa makes sense but otherwise why would he leave? He's got a pretty good job where he is. He can recruit Ohio which is an area he knows well and can also recruit prime areas like Georgia and Florida.

Stoops has been trying to leave Kentucky since 2018 but he was unsuccessful. Florida St is his dream job. If I was him, I would tell Barnfart and PayCal to both pound sand and leave.

I would say one of these things is not like the others but really the others came back to meet it.

I consider the Kentucky job better than Iowa. I know the Iowa job is easier in a weaker conference but the problem with Iowa is they are content with being average. Nick Ferentz is a fine coach considering they had terrible history before Hayden Fry. But they just seem stuck or hit a ceiling when it comes to improving the program to greater heights.

Coaches want to coach and players want to play in the SEC. Unless it is a job that is a historic power then he has no reason to leave the SEC.

It’s not. And it’s not even close. Kentucky has won 10+ games 4x in program history. Iowa has done it 7x in the last 20 seasons, all under Ferentz. You’re way off on this.

I'm not looking at history but potential. Iowa is stuck in no man's land while in a inferior conference. They don't have any momentum going for them that can put them at a top level football program.

Stoops may not have that at Kentucky but we don't know for sure and Kentucky has not put the effort and time in the football program until Stoops showed up. Kentucky decided it was going to put more money into the football program and the results are showing.

If it was up to me, I would stay at Kentucky because you are in the best conference in the nation and you have the potential to get better players at Kentucky than you would at Iowa. If you so happen to win the East and the SEC then the path in front of you will be easier. At Iowa you will play a rink a dink schedule, go 12-0 and get your arse beat by Ohio State in the title game. That gets old fast.

Will FSU be in one of the two biggest Conferences when the dust settles? It is questionable for GT and FSU. FSU would have to be in the SEC, because the Big 10 is big on academics. GT might get invited to the Big 10 based on their academic reputation.
