Because he was arrested for assault after police say he struck his girlfriend with a closed fist and choked her.

Of course police aren't perfect and there are two sides to every story. This just seems like a particularly risky move to place someone that is allegedly this violent (in addition to the check cashing scam which, admittedly, isn't nearly as disturbing as the assault charges) on a college campus. I wouldn't do it if I were Saban. Some people strongly disagree with me on that, far more people do agree with me on that.

From the post I responded to:

"so all the holier than thou posts are a little over the top"

Schools (AU and others)that didn't recruit this guy are perfectly justified in criticizing Bama for taking him.

That was my point.

FWIW, it was reported that AU coach Rodney Garner (who recruited him for UGA in the first place) had had some contact with the guy and that's what prompted the question and the answer.

It was not immediate - he had to spend a year in CC. It's also possible that his old HS coach speaking highly of him was a factor in Saban giving the kid another chance.

. It seems that Saban is hellbent on making him a decent, contributing member of society.

I hope that works, but I would be nervous as hell.
Oh for crying out loud! As an AU fan you must have been on fricking pins and needles since Tubs got canned with all the rehab players y'all have had on your roster.

These players will either walk a straight line or Malzhan & Saban will kick them to the curb.

All you can do is just keep doing your best.

If you are doing your best, you're a winner!

"so all the holier than thou posts are a little over the top"

"all" includes AU, unless we have somehow been cast into Outer Darkness and I didn't see the notice.

it is possible that one of the caveats is that he be founand d innocent in a court of law.

Who cares if he is found innocent? Nick Marshall was never even charged with any crime and Tray Matthews was only charged with the check cashing scheme this thug was also involved with. Those facts didn't stop bammers from making fun of them or calling Auburn 2nd chance u. The fact that you even bring up this defense is just more proof bammers are the biggest hypocrites on the face of the Earth

I'm sure Gus thought long and hard about how much of a price Tray paid for getting booted from Georgia. But when you need a Safety......

Go frick yourself! bammers have always been quick to criticize Auburn for giving 2nd chances to any players, but you expect Auburn fans not to care now that bammer is giving 2nd or 3rd chances to an even worse group of thugs. You deserve all the criticism you get and probably more

1 thing that will always make this conference stink like sewer water, is the fact that a few programs will take anything and anyone, regardless of their offenses and why they were kicked out of another school.

If he's top talent, they will ALWAYS have a scholarship for this type of POS.

The best part, is the fans of these programs will talk tons of shite about this player while he's at the other school getting dismissed, once the rumors come out about him changing to their school, these tards will boast and make the "2nd chance" claims. lol

Not saying I agree with that either, but are you saying you are completely comfortable with this commit?

But seriously, this makes Alabama look terrible. They have the #1 recruiting class. Bama should have no problem bringing in a kid who is just as good but has not almost beaten a woman half his size to death. The Bama Way I guess...
