The incident happened less than seven months ago. Maybe he shouldn't be shunned the rest of his life, but this is a pretty quick turnaround, no?

So you freely admit that the Factory new about a bench warrant for the two felony charges. Nicely played. One possibly caveat is he kills or maims an Alabama factory member before being sentenced to consecutive ten year terms in Reidsville. Saban needs to answer his phone calls and explain his reasoning on that one.

...the factory knew (not new)

... for the two felony charges? (This sentence is a question, not a statement)

...One possible caveat (not possibly)

Just helping an educationally challenged Oregon brother here. You need to understand that the SEC Rant has standards that need to be maintained.

I don't want him around campus, don't care if he's rehabilitated or not violence against women is inexcusable.

Please show me where he was given a pass? For a moment try to take your emotions out of the equation... I have a daughter, what he did was horrible and HE DESERVED TO BE PUNISHED but after he served that punishment, and if there is ANY chance that he could do good, is it NOT worth giving him a chance? If the guy is a danger to society and women, then HE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS AND SHOULD BE LOCKED UP SOMEWHERE. But if he can somehow make amends for his crimes and become a somewhat productive member of society does he not deserve that chance?

Saban is as hypocritical as they come.

Eh, I think you're confusing bama fans and saban here.

I don't recall saban ever saying a kid shouldn't have a second chance...that was just his flock preaching.

I hope that works, but I would be nervous as hell.

Never said I agreed 100% with the decision, but at the same time I've seen good people make a single horrible mistake and pretty much have everything ripped away - assuring that they grow from the mistake instead of elsewhere. I worked in a prison for a year, and I saw both types. I doubt many people on the Rant are more qualified.

That could be a possible argument if he'd served his punishment yet.
Psssst, he hasn't

No, but he will be tried in February - long before he ever takes a snap at Alabama.

I hear you there. I taught lots of troubled inner city youths and often some of the kids made really poor decisions, not realizing the long term consequences. My point is, from the university standpoint, I am not sure I would take this risk, especially since it has not gone to trial yet.

The other thing that bothers me is that getting booted by Georgia and taken by Alabama does not seem like paying a very steep price and I am not sure how much one will learn from mistakes if this is the consequence.

And again, Saban and Bama are hurting so bad for defensive lineman that they would take someone whom they feel is a danger to society and the University.

Never said Bama was hurting for d-lineman, they obviously aren't. My only point is this is a foolish decision. I don't think having Taylor will improve Bama's record at all from what it would have been anyway.

-Saban is an outstanding coach, and can/will win with or without Taylor IMO.
-He is also making an extremely foolish decision to take Taylor IMO.

Both statements can be simultaneously true.

Is it cold up there, Spread? Who did YOU assault to make them sentence you to winter in Oregon? Stay warm and don't stick your tongue in any wall outlets...even if the guys tell you it won't hurt.

So you posted an article about Gus saying that he didn't recruit Taylor in response to us saying that Bama wasn't the only school that recruited him, and I'm the one with reading comprehension and logic problems. Brilliant.

Why is it a foolish decision? That question isn't rhetorical. I'm really curious as to why you feel that way?
