I hear you, I really do.

But do you want a title so bad you have to cheat to get it?

An what happens if after you win the big one, they take it away for breaking the rules? I think that would hurt worse than never winning one...

But, despite the public pledge, he does not consider his recruiting completed.

"This will not be shutting down my recruitment," Walker said.

This is a quote from Isiah Walker Jr. The #spursup comittment you linked us too. What's the point of making the comittment if you're not finished with the recruiting process? These high school kids flip flop like a fish out of water some times.

Well as far as I know, Florida didn't cheat. All those guys just had run ins with the law. The NCAA Didn't hurt them for that.

Don't care because I already experienced the season and most likely bought all the t shirts/banners etc.
You can't take away my memories.

No, I was completely disgusted along with a ton of other Gamecock fans when Tanner announced Boom as the new head coach. I wanted Tanner fired right there on the spot. It was such a disappointment .The coaching search was a joke just like Muschamps offense at Florida. We were fresh off of a home loss to Citadel and we hired the coach from Florida that lost to Ga Southern . Not only lost but He Southern didn't even complete a pass in that game .

I felt the same way at first. And I wanted to beat Tom Herman's arse for "agreeing in principle" to take the job and then backing out after we lost to the Citadel.

But...like you, I am happy with Muschamp's hustle and the way he busts his arse for us. He took over a fricking disaster from what Spurrier did and has done a good job of turning it around. Hard to be unhappy with going from 3 wins to 9 in 2 years.

I am still cautiously optimistic.

Sure we had 9 wins last year but we didn't exactly play murderers row.

I'm so glad we didn't hire Tom Herman!!! He is an arrogant a-hole and in over his head at Texas . I'm so pleased with Muschamp I honestly wouldn't trade him for any other coach in the country right now.

I never understood the Roper 2.0 experiment.

That said, I like Muschamp and think he is a good coach. And a some point, he can get lucky with an OC and have big things happen in SC.

I don't think Saban could do any better. If I was pressed maybe Urban Meyer. The name Alabama helped Saban more than most want to admit. I still remember watching him coach the Dolphins. He doesn't coach near as good when teams have equal talent but by God if you give him superior talent across the board he can win some games

Of course Saban could do better, but he'd do it the same way he's always done it, recruiting.

This whole Muschamp thing confuses me. How is it even possible he didn't succeed at Florida? Yet he didn't.

I was totally against his hire at USC, but I was totally wrong.

He does everything totally right. He finds the right players, and gets enough of them to sign to make very effective recruiting classes.

He knows how to run a defense, and he has gotten quality coaches across the staff, particularly at reruiting.

If he is micromanaging the offense, he must have some kind of telepathic link machine because there is absolutely no sign he is micromanaging that side of the ball during games.

Actually I've seen no indication he micros the defense either. T-Rob doesn't seem to consult him when he is making calls.

I just don't get what happened at Florida. Whether a coach scores enough to make some fans happy or not, it doesn't make any sense for him not to have won nine or ten games a year at Florida at the least.

If any coach did the same job at Florida Muschamp is doing at USC, then they are just going to average ten wins a year.

So what went wrong? That whole situation down there doesn't make any sense in retrospect.

If Muschamp showed no ability to beat his rivals regularly and go to Atlanta most years, I'm sure Florida would have gone all Auburn on him.

But year two of his run there is frankly what I would have expected every year to be like, based on his performance here. Even if he were some kind of control freak who couldn't stop meddling, and was going to keep his team from being great.

Losing to an FCS team while consistently recruiting top ten classes is a pretty easy way to be unsuccessful if you ask me. It doesn't seem very nuanced.

Brent Pease was a terrible OC, worse than Charlie Cheeseburger and Roper. Muschamp’s biggest screw up in Gainesville was taking Meyers personal and running a pro style offense, which would have been fine if we stuck too it, but after Pease we went right back to the Spread with Roper, but we had three years of recruiting Pro personal, if he would have just stuck to one style of offense instead of switching back and forth he probably would have worked out. He just never seemed to understand what he really wanted from his offense, and I’m sure micro-managing Jeremy Foley didn’t help.

At this certain moment right now?!?!?!

If we somehow offered Saban 20 mil a year and he jumped over to us, or if he did when we were looking for a coach, he most certainly would.

He's already established himself as the best coaches in the nation. The name Nick Saban alone would pull in tons of talent.

And what do you mean "coaching the dolphins"
We went 9-7 his first year with that team. The same team that went 4-12 the year before. He quit the next year because he realized the NFL wasn't for him. Pete Carroll basically had the same trajectory but waited it out in the NFL.

You think Saban would do about the same despite having won multiple national championships at multiple schools since then?

And now his record at LSU. I stand by my statement of the Alabama name helping Saban more than most want to admit

But what does that have to do with now?

I said we are getting 66 year old Nick Saban, who has 6 national titles and a shite ton of first round draft picks.

not 44 year old Nick Saban in his 1st head coaching job.

he's already established himself to where kids want to go play for him because he's won titles and sends kids to the NFL.

I don't think being at USC would hurt any of that.
