Are you a head football coach of a power 5 school making millions per year?

And I like the look of the Lou Holtz crewneck wind shirts (but I'm old school...)

I mean knowing how Nike prices.

That's most likely a 90 dollar sweatshirt.

I like the shirt and tie look.

Yep ... you're on it but you're not giving the stone cold Southerners, old school Gator fans, enough credit for coming to the quick conclusion that he's really not one of them. Everyone who is mixing with him comes away with second thoughts apparently.

quote:

Why do I say that? Because he's a confirmed, although quiet, Scientologist.

He's not all that quiet about it he's just biding his time for now and not answering any open questions about it. He's been asked about it since arriving in Gainesville and apparently he went off on the lady.

He also spoke in Tampa and seemed to be more in a hurry to meet with church leaders afterwards over in Innisbrook than he was rubbing elbows with boosters who had come out to see him.

He's evidently not a very endearing fellow when pushed for time. But hey, maybe he was simply fatigued by the new, busier, schedule hob-knobbing with Gator fans than he is used-to, or was used-to during his days in Starkville.

Spurrier could be like that at times. You'd go to pick him up from the airport and he'd want his specific beer waiting on him and he may talk or he may sit there like a bump on a log or talking on his phone about his golf game the whole ride. Some of those guys are just quirky.

If Mullens wins games Gator fans will not care about any of this. If he's average ... then there is a lot more that will come out. He's definitely a quirky guy it sounds like. But, as you alluded-to, the Scientology crowd is strong in Tampa and vicinity and I would guess they have a strong presence in and around Gainesville. They've got a lot of money I know that. More than the Mormans in all likelihood and they'll use it to protect their guy. But I seriously doubt they are looking at Mullen to replace Cruise or Travolta as their front man. That would open-up a can of worms for them.

But, there are some already having a problem with it in Gainesville ... as I typed, from the top down.

It's gonna be used against him on the recruiting trail.

I know your Momma likes what I spout ... well, at least she likes to gobble it, or the taste of it ... well, she mumbles something about liking the taste, I think. In between the cough-gagging.

Mullen is Episcopal. He grew up Catholic. Was never involved with Scientology.

Okay ... and listen, it's just talk, I get it. He'll address it sooner or later I'm sure.

I mean who really cares if he's a Scientologist, right?

And then there's ...

... just sayin'.

I mean, from what I heard about what is going on since Dan arrived, there are just too many things going-on right outta the chute.

And hey, I would have never brought any of this up, swear to gosh would have never breathed a word of hearsay ... because I like The Gators and we never have real words with Gator fans. But damn, there are always a couple that wanna sling shite at us about Muschamp ... and that's cool, just as long as they are good with return fire.

Can we stop this now? Or do we go on? Because I tend to believe some of the stuff I was told ... you can't make this stuff up.

Hell, all of our programs have skeletons ... but Dan is much more under the spotlight now than he was in Starkville. Anything else major going to come out? Who knows.

I honestly wish him well in all of them except against us. He may turn that thing around down there in one year ... wouldn't surprise me in the least if y'all can find a QB and get your running game going.

But all of what ails UF is not mUSChamp's fault. He was new to the kind of mess he inherited. He learned a lot down there. Wish y'all would ease-up on the man some.

I think Pell was pretty well liked there and he didn't run a scoring a machine I don't believe.

Charlie Pell was a likeable guy, very endearing ... but he cheated his arse off. Maybe one of the worst cheaters in NCAA history.

But he was likeable as all getout.

Everyone seems to wanna blame everything on Galen Hall ... but it was Pell that put UF on the path to probation.

They'll never be another HBC. He is one of a kind. He came along at just the right time for Gator Football too ... both as a player and a coach.

Young people forget, it was all that long ago that Florida failed to win a game in a season ... 1980 was it? Finished with a tie to keep them from losing every game.

12 years later and they were on top of the world and headed for greatness and have never looked back. Spurrier even said he inherited a team with tons of talent ... but he made that team into a great team and built it from there.

Someone said, earlier in this thread that Gator fans are spoiled for offense ... but their best teams have always had stout defenses.

Mullen will build an offense ... but can he build a Championship caliber defense? Todd Grantham, Sal Sunseri, Christian Robinson, Charlton Warren ... it'll be up to them. Grantham and Sunseri certainly have the chops.
