I lived up there right out of Carolina. In Connecticut (Mystic area). Used to drive to Bridgeport and take Metro North into Grand Central and have myself a big ol' time. They didn't understand half of the phrases I used (reckon', fixin' to, buggy, etc) and were always asking me to say certain words bc they liked my accent.
