They know at the first sign of trouble, their team will collapse just like it did last year. Then they'll be on to yet another coaching search, which was pretty embarrassing last time.

Given the likely average season LSU will have and his projected draft grade, it wouldn't surprise if he sat out given how high Chase was taken after doing the same.

All of these LSU fans acting like it's such an impossibility.

This could be said for any elite player

Eta: It remains to be seen how NFL teams would potentially handle someone who opted out of an entire season in a non Covid year. Not sure why everyone is pretending it'd all be the same.

After watching him a few seasons the kid is talented but it's my impression he's not big on the contact portion of the game. Let's just say no one will confuse him with Ronnie Lott or Night Train Lane. I give it a more than 50% chance he takes the Cajun Retirement Package and doesn't complete the season.

This seems like a fairly legitimate question/concern for LSU fans, but it was met with a staggering amount of vitriol by every member of their fanbase.

I'm going to assume you either touched a nerve, or they just really hate you no matter what you post.

It's actually a fair question that OP asked, but I can understand why some LSU see it as a troll given the OP.

I can see it happening especially if Stingley gets nicked up or LSU is having an average season. I see him opting out after the Bama Game.

Character isn't the end all for the NFL. You have teams lined up waiting for Josh Gordon to be reinstated after being given the boot 34 times.

It still hasn't actually been proven though that optiing out in a normal year won't hurt draft stock.

I 100% expect Stingley to opt out in the middle of next year.

The guy who suggested a tender groin or hammy is dead on.

And LSU fans know it, and they hate it, but they, and everyone else, are completely powerless to change it. This is the new reality for all college teams.

but it really isn't, he's playing and anyone that's more than a sidewalk LSU fan knows this.
Also, nothing being asked by texag is done out of legitimacy or concern. It isn't difficult to figure out his simple minded schtick after spending a day on this board

"Opting out" is just a nice phrase for "quitting".

Smith will break his femur in 3/5 seasons in the NFL. Hell of a college player, but he's gone now so let's talk 2021 instead of the past. I know there's a lot of LSU people in here that talk about 2019, but those days are over. Quit living in the past. I'll be back here in april 2022 to see how high Stingley goes (after playing this season)

I would put the chances of him playing every game (health aside of course) at 25%. Fact of the matter is, college football has become a poor product around the country. Top players understandably are looking out for their financial future, the times of all the best players playing a full season are over. Only teams who make the playoff seem to be immune to it.
