You wouldn't tell the men on the 1939 National Championship team that.

Well Bryant led TAM to a conference championship in 1956 and Stallings did the same in 1967. Those were pretty significant accomplishments for A&M.

Why was Ed O better at LSU than Ole Miss?

Because there is only one college football program that is better than Ole Miss yet stupid enough to hire Ed Orgeron. Ed Orgeron should be LSU royalty but you stabbed him in the back. Shame.

Stallings had the misfortune of coaching at a military school during the Viet Nam war. Not a big recruiting draw during that time period.

It doesn’t take 50 years to start a winning program.

Fine, but the question was specifically about the time before that last 50 years.

Stallings won the 1968 Cotton Bowl over Bear and Bama.

Bryant was so happy for Stallings when they met at midfield that he picked up Stallings and pretended to carry him off the field for a few yards.

Because both coaches were younger. Especially Stallings. Why didn’t the GOAT win a title at Michigan State? Because he was learning.

I've always found it amusing how quick some sips cling to the fact that A&M won the 1939 national championship when discussing A&M's history as a military school prior to the early 70's.

Same reason Saban was so much better at Alabama than LSU.

Alabama is the common denominator.

Coach Saban mused that when he was elsewhere he wondered what it would be like coaching at a place like BAMA. 17 years later the statistics speak for themselves. A lot of different coaches have won titles at ALABAMA because that is the way the school defines itself. But only 2 were the best of the best. It is an amazing run.

Bryant thoroughly enjoyed his time at TAMU and often said it was the happiest time of his life. He was dating a yell leader, could really let his hair down and just be who he really was. His boyfriend dumped him and he left TAMU and was a different person. He became driven to never let the other side him because he never wanted to see a happy male cheerleader again. He was just bitter. He even gave up being a homosexual but still was a transvestite. In fact he still preformed as a drag queen in Tuscaloosa in the offseason.

Did you know they don’t let 300 lb linemen in the military?

It’s simple really and either you know zero about football or you’re just being obtuse on purpose to hold to your narrative.

A&M has a small team for most of its early years due to the fact that all students were expected to serve in the armed services.

This has obviously changed. And if you want to compare records of any school since they stopped being a military school, you’ll find it doesn’t sound as good in your “Aggies suck” narrative.

Coach Bryant won wherever he went. Even winning an SEC and mythical NC at Kentucky. But the resources make the difference in the long run.

Is Army considered a military school? They had some success back in the forties.

Army's football team reached its pinnacle of success during the Second World War under coach Earl Blaik when Army won three consecutive national championships in 1944, 1945 and 1946, and produced two Heisman trophy winners: Doc Blanchard (1945), Glenn Davis (1946).
