Also African American kids in the state of Georgia still participate in baseball at a high level where it’s slipped in other parts of the country.

Yep - the South Metro has produced some incredible black baseball talent, both collegiately and at the MLB level.

Ecstatic to watch the one roaming CF in Truist for the next decade plus.

then how come Mississippi has more NFL players per capita than Georgia.

Here we go again. No idea why people continuously us this phrase when touting particular states.

Per participant is a far better indicator to prove this particular narrative.

Georgia produces the most NFL draft
Picks "per capita" in last year's NFL draft if ya really wanna go down that rabbit hole.

LaGrange had 2 corners (Walt Harris & Marty Carter) that started in the Super Bowl for the Bears.

Mike Cameron, Ben Revere, Jimmy Payne all from LG and played in the majors.

Yes sir!

And for that matter Dansby & Matt Olson are Atlanta Kids. Will Smith was from Newnan. Francour was from Snellville, Jason Heyward was from somewhere in Metro Atlanta. Riley is a Memphis kid.

Per participant would be a better way to look at it imo by state.

I grew up near Belle Glade, Florida and played with and against several people that had long NFL careers. All the little towns (5-10k residents) on the south side of Lake Okeechobee used to pump out D1 athletes and NFL players. Been away from there for awhile now so I don't know if it's still the same, but BG and Pahokee used to be crazy. Even espn did a special featuring Bobby Bowden talking about the area in general.

That is true sir. Also if you want to look at it along racial lines Mississippi has the highest percentage of black population at 38 percent, more than any other state but it only has roughly 3 million people. If Mississippi had the same population of these other states it would more than like dominate in producing pro players.

In most states, football practice is the hardest part of a day. In Georgia, it’s a break from farming or pulpwood. Work makes you strong and tough.

While Georgia has always had talent the reason there are more blue chippers coming out is because of people migrating to the Atlanta metro area over the past 20 years. Most of these kids aren’t true homegrown Georgia boys.

And Lagrange is only a town of about 25,000 people. The level of talent that comes out of a place that small is pretty insane.

The drop off in CA is crazy. 5 years ago, they had 58 blue chippers in the 2018 class. Now they only have 29 in the 2023 class.

Maybe they moved to other states due to high cost of living?

You started this thread. Was it a real actual question? Or was it

We have a better breed of people than most others. Hell, even the best cowboy ever came from Georgia, Doc Holliday. We just got it going on.
