Why is Texas A&M ok with hiring Elko but not Stoops?

Did they get Elko because of the familiarity with him on staff there under Jimbo but defensive mind Mark Stoops was not good enough for them being it’s the same hire? lol

Stoops seems like the better option of those two but who knows? Maybe he’ll work out.

Because Stoops is a terrible coach

Elko should be quite a bit cheaper

Rumored deal for Stoops was 7 years $70 million which... no thanks at being tied to yet another impossible to fire coach.

If you actually watched A&M under Elko you’d get it. Duke won ten games in three seasons combined before Elko came in

Exactly. Didnt know how it was going to get there but you knew you'd get to the table expecting a rib eye and get served a flank stake

Because Stoops turned them down, so they moved on to number 2?

I watched Duke play twice this year. Not very talented, but they were a very physical team. That is what impressed me.

If he can bring that to TAMU, he will do well IMO.

They fired Jimbo and will pay him 75 M for their offensive woes.

Only to hire 2 defensive coaches in the last 24 hours.

Show me any Aggy in College Station that knows what they're doing right now and I'll show you a bridge for sale.

None of this makes sense at this point.

Younger. Cheaper. Previous ties to A&M.

They were also 4-0 and broke into the AP Top 25 before losing their QB to injury

Stoops is less successful than Jimbo. Elko represents a higher ceiling. He was a big time DC and quickly turned a terrible Duke in a winning program. “Did more with less”.

That’s literally Stoops resume. He was a bigger time championship coordinator and sustained a Duke level program in the SEC for a decade.

It’s hilarious that Faggies think they are above stoops but not Elko.

It truly is crazy that they pay Jimbo that much to leave and have little to no plans on moving forward other than to say we won’t be paying the next coach that much. A 9th grade class could have put together a more stable business plan.
