Only school with butt-chugging major.

The fact still remains that their primary success was in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Look it up. Since the SEC was integrated about 1970, UT has won 5 SEC titles. Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn have won more, and UGA has won as many. My earlier point was not that UT was never the 2nd best SEC team but that they are not now, and will probably not be going forward.

When the SEC was white, Tennessee was alright!
When the SEC was black (or integrated), Tennessee was in the back.

Outside of Memphis, Knoxville, and Nashville, that "pool" isn't very deep. I have ridden all over that state, and the rural areas and small towns, which are most of the state, are very white. Is that a factor as to why UT is 5th best in the SEC since integration? I suppose it is. I don't think it's the primary factor, but it's reasonable to think it's probably A factor among others.

edit: And other schools seem to recruit Memphis at least as well as UT does.
John,
As I suspected, you're wrong. A little over 12% of the US population is black, while over 16% of Tennessee is black. You're gonna need to come up with a LEGITIMATE reason why your statement is true, or everybody on this forum is gonna think that you're FOS.

Negate the numbers in Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville, and get back to me.

I am running late or I'd do it myself. I CAN, however, google as well as you can, so don't try to bullschit or everybody on this forum is gonna think you're FOS.

Oh yeah, and I won't lose any sleep what you or the other guy think about me or my comments.

edit: What a stupid comment anyway. The percentage of blacks in the nation has nothing do do with producing blue chip black athletes in the south. Are you really surprised that Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota etc etc etc etc have less blacks than southern states? You ever heard the phrase that all things are relative Tennessee pun not intended) Sheesh. What a maroon.

And now, I have to go for a while, but I shall return.

Should I also take away the #s of all the major cities in all the states to make it fair? I'm afraid it's not me doing the bull shitting...I'm using facts. You're the one that's not supplying a rational reason (with facts) for your statement.
Oh yeah, if you're not losing any sleep over this, then you should look at the # of times that you've been involved with this thread.

If you are in your 30's and don't remember Tennessee being an elite football program then you didn't pay attention to college football as a child.

I only have my own age to show, unfortunately.

I see Tennessee as a has-been.

That is all I know.

I know they were "once" great, but maybe it is time to move on.

My grandfather thought alot about Fulmer however. I don't really remember him as a coach.

I know they hired Dooley from UGA and everything went South after that.

I think your grandpa would be embarrassed of you if he read this thread. You act as if your opinion matters when you are so confident about what you think you "know." Seriously you should never give your opinion on anything SEC ever again. This thread just proves you base it on nothing.

UT didn't get Dooley from UGA. He came from LA Tech. Also, things had gone "south" at UT way before Dooley got there. Do you even know what connection Dooley has to UGA? Or does it not matter cause it was before your precious existence that obviously marks all that is the SEC??

Sometimes big-time college sports can get too intense and serious. Sports are supposed be about fun, above all else. Sometimes that can be forgotten.

Tennessee helps us remember that, and gives us something to laugh about....

Dooley left Jones one of the best OLine's in the country full of Jr's. He didn't recruit any OLinemen? He had Skipper committed to UT. Not Dooleys fault Jones did nothing with the OL he was left, and not able to keep Skipper from following Chaney and Pittman to Ark.

Dooley's roster/recruiting landscape wasn't the same as Jones', so stop blaming Dooley by comparing the 2 equally.

You're an idiot. The starters were all good but the people behind them were awful. That showed in butch's 2nd year after they all got drafted. There was no talent behind those guys to develop...because Dooley didn't recruit anyone
