This is the only legitimate reason for Lane leaving, assuming he has the money for NIL/salary lined up (which seems to be the case).
Come on Rebels! This is your best chance ever to go on a multi-year run. You have the portal, NIL, right conference and coach. If you don’t show up now, then it’s never going to happen. Washington State game wasn’t full either.

I'll be there. Driving 4 hours. Last game I was at was Kentucky last year. Hoping for a different outcome this time.

It’s also deer season and a lot of us are either hunting or getting ready to do so on these days.

This post sums up why Lane will leave Ole Miss. Huntington season.

Yes but I’m guessing he doesn’t venture out into the woods too much.

We sold out in May but tickets get returned from the visitors and aftermarket sales hit the internet. And before you go tooting your own horn, you should explain why entire sections of the Florida side of TSOR are unsold.
EDIT: According to Seatgeek, you have thousands upon thousands more remaining seats for all of your home games than we do.

A lot of spinning from Ole Miss fans in here. Your HC having to ask for the fans to sell out a night game for a 7-1 team in the middle of a run to the CFB playoffs is not a good look, no matter what the reason.
It’s a 60k stadium. It shouldn't be hard to sell out.

It’s not that easy in a state like Mississippi. There are a lot of socioeconomic factors at play. My father was stationed at Biloxi back in the day and I’ve visited places like Pascagoula and I’ve Met some genuine good people down there. But it’s a state where you have the haves and have nots. There’s not much of a middle class

We sold it out in May. SC returned tickets and the aftermarket sales hit at random points too.
Capacity is listed at 64,038. We typically bring 66,000+ but the last two seasons, we've been bringing 68,000+. This myth of us not having full crowds hasn't been true since COVID when capacity was ridiculously reduced. 68,000 is pretty good when you consider that the campus is in a remote location in a state of only 3 million. Plus, there's typically another 20-30k camped out in the Grove as well.

Plus we have another SEC team in state 100 miles away.
Another thing about Ole Miss is that a good portion of the people who attend games have to travel to get there. Lafayette Co has only 55K residents.
Meanwhile, Gainesville has over 275K living right there in Alachua county. So while some people have to travel... they probably have quite a few locals who attend games.
I think it makes a bit of a difference for some programs and certain games when a school has a smaller local populace to draw from.
Ole Miss has to make sure that the Memphis fans and Jackson area fans are willing to drive to Oxford for all the games as well as fans from rural MS.

Kirby Smart tells Georgia fans to bring it for the game against Ole Miss and he's just motivating the home crowd.
Lane Kiffin tells Ole Miss fans to bring it for the game against SC and "Oh, why can't the Rebbals sell out a small stadium?"
It's tiring.

I’m actually pretty good at it.
