Funny how LSU is being accused of being the "scared" one for wanting equality in scheduling when it's Alabama who seems to be dead set on doing everything they can to institutionalize an easier path to Atlanta than either LSU or Auburn. And don't give me this Tennessee will be back nonsense because they aren't ever going to be as consistently good as Florida again and all of you know it.

I wouldn't mind playing Florida every year as long as we're allowed to keep the Tennessee game. There is something to be said for maintaining rivalry games.

Florida and FSU play even though that game has screwed them both. Georgia and GT play, Clemson USCe, everyone who schedules ND, etc etc etc. Rivalries are good for college football as long as trees don't get poisoned.

If they changed the schedule and Tennessee wasn't on it, then I'd be fine with scheduling them as an OOC game.

LSU fans cried about having to play Alabama last year. Now they're crying about playing Florida. They've got to be the most gutless fanbase in the SEC. Sad thing is, the coaching staff feels the same way.

I dont think very many Bama fans care if you play Florida every year or if we play Florida more often. We simply want to keep playing UT every year, and keeping permanent rivals ensures that this happens.

So does moving to the same division with UT.

Did I miss where Florida returned to the Tebow/Meyer days?

The tough teams in the east are UGA and SC now. No one is "scared" of UF, except for LSU for some crazy reason

Until recently, I had no idea that LSU was an all-girls school.

You're the Mount Holyoke of the South.

The LSU vs FL game has no impact on who wins the West unless LSU (or whatever West team) fails to win the other games. If LSU loses to FL but wins out in their other SEC games they will be in the SECCG so your argument does not hold water.

Go check out what happened to LSU in 2002 in the Florida game and ask yourself if it made a difference.

Bama has played Florida 6 times in the last 7 years

2 of those is by chance.

Well frick - Bama kicked everybody's arse in the SEC West those two years, so we advanced on to ATL to take a freakin shot at FLA. That doesn't change the fact that Bama has played FLA 6 times in 7 yrs.

Again the premise behind your argument is flawed. Your thoughts of the reasoning for Alabama being opposed to disbanding the permenant rivals is not the same reason Alabama actualy has. Your assumption is wrong therefore your argument is wrong

People said the same thing about LSU after the 50's but look here, 50 years later and you are back up again. UT will be back eventually too.

I'm fine with playing Florida AND Georgia every year if it meant keeping the rivalry with Tennessee.

And speaking of Georgia, I love the way you cajuns whine about having to play Florida every year when Georgia has to play Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn every year. Do you hear them bitching? No.

Just like they wanted us to think Vandy was still a quality program in the 60's and 70's when they were playing them every year.

Because it changes every year you tard. There's no inbetween. Someone is going to be unhappy if there are permanent cross-division opponents, because a bad team last year could be a good team this year.

A fricking ten year old could figure this out.

Amazing how none of you actually address the issue. You just jump straight to this kind of nonsense.

I guess the same way all Bama fans were whining about having six oppenents having bye weeks before they played us a couple years ago.

And successfully lobbied to get the rule changed because Alabama felt the situation wasn't fair. Seems like exactly the same thing. I seem to recall at the time, LSU administrators were saying, since we all seem to be concerned about competitive fairness at this moment, how about that whole permanent opponent thing.

Nobody is against competitive balance. Tennessee is historically a great team. We wouldn't switch them on the schedule for Vandy every year. We'd actually like to maintain that rivalry. I honestly don't love when good rivalries like the Florida v Miami get trashed because of conference needs. It happens but if their is a way to avoid it, then I'd like to do so.

With 14 teams in the league, there is no reasonable way to have competitive balance with the scheduling unless you essentially turn the SEC into 2 smaller individual leagues. That sucks because it lessens the importance of games against SEC teams not in your division.

Having a little imbalance in the scheduling is preferable to not counting the games against teams on the other side of the conference.
