Why doesn't the SEC sponsor men's soccer?

Only SC and UK have teams and they have to play in the CUSA.
It really holds back the conference IMO.

Title 9.
In order to field a men's soccer team, you have to field an additional women's sport with an equal number of scholarships.

Because Soccer isn't a sport

But all SEC schools have women's soccer. Many have gymnastics.
It's interesting because no Big 12 school except West Virginia has men's soccer. Yet most of the PAC 12, ACC and Big Ten have teams

And most of those Big Ten schools have wrestling and some even men's ice hockey! How do they do it?

I wonder if they moved the soccer season to the spring, would it make a difference?
Also, I don't know if it's true about the Title IX requiring equal scholarships, but the men's likely would have a lot fewer scholarships.

Take Atlanta, for example. That town could care less about soccer.

Would be awesome to have hockey. Schools like Minnesota and BC treat it like cfb

This is a very Tillmanish post. He is obsessed with soccer. One of the "Big 4" sports as he calls it.

Simple, more men are enrolled than women in those schools...not the same in the SEC except for Vandy and probably gAy&M

Because all our gays move to Cali or Texas when they turn 18.
On a serious note Title IX

Is it even a program worth supporting? Not exactly a money generator.

I'd rather have men's hockey.

I’d be down for hockey. I’ve watched some outdoor college hockey games while it snowed, and it was a pretty cool sight.
