It's like asking why didnt they take UCF schedule. Some teams like to play high profile games with the likes of duke and stuff. They almost beat them and were in the game but does 9-3 really help you much more than 8-4 at this point in the season? not really

Yeah they were. Clemson was a late add, to replace an Oregon home and home that didn't work out between our two home schedules. We traded an oregon program trending down, for a Clemson team that finished a touchdown away from winning the championship.
