Golding did a fine job. The players did not make the plays. Simple as that. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Dunno. Why do people give Kirby and Pruitt credit for Bama's defense during their tenure?

Idk how he will do with Carolina but i doubt you can name one game he was bad on the stat sheet at Bama.

Carolina has absolute garbage around him. Watching him and Corral run for their lives this preseason has been concerning as a fan of the former SEC QBs but gleeful as a Saints fan.

Do they? Maybe now they’ve seen Golding. Kirby never seemed to get credit before.

In fairness, Alabama posters insist that Kirby was not the key.....so, I guess we are back to the original question?

I’ve always attributed the defenses and the credit of how good they are to the coordinator.

I liked Pruitt better because with Kirby it seemed like at times we just wanted to choke the life out of people instead of beat their arse and it ended up costing us in shootouts. Jeremy Pruitts more attacking defensive style and recruiting kinda reminded me of LSU’s style of ball where there seem to be a lot of ball hawks in the back end and the defensive linemen are a lot more cerebral to the shifty QBs.

I shouldn't bite but i will...

Pete was damn impressive with x/o's but not how to turn loose a bunch of athletes.

Give him a class of 5th and 6 year seniors...?

But Bama could demolish teams with athletic ability enstead of conceptual defense.

Yep, that's why Golding is now coaching at Ole Miss

Perspective is everything.

The defense was a top 10-12 unit nationally despite Golding not knowing how to call pressure.

Pour gumbo in your ears if you want to attempt an understanding of how an LSU fan's brain functions.

You mean routinely dropping your #3 overall NFL draft pick pass rush specialist into coverage on obvious passing downs isn't actually the playcall of some super genius?

Make no mistake about it. It’s Saban’s defense.
