Why does it matter if Bama is ranked?

They win, they stay in and are better than LSU and Florida.

They lose and they are gone.

If you don't like Alabama ranked then just beat them perhaps...

We did this before and it didn't work. And back then it was only a 2 team playoff

The real problem with this ranking is what the is the committee going to do if both Alabama and Ole Miss win all of their remaining games?

Ole Miss has two loses. I only think the head to head should matter if they both have one loss

Did you? I don't think I've heard this one before.

LSU gets more credit for beating another top 4 team. That will work. These rankings are very fluid so it's just for attention and hype right now. However I strongly disagree with Clemson 1 and Bama 4 at this point but it will all play out.

It actually helps LSU more than anything else. Even if they lose, it's a virtual certainty LSU will remain in the top 5 if not the top 4. And they'll probably jump to #1 if they beat Bama.

The only way it matters is if Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss all win out-- if Ole Miss wins the West and Florida beats them again but somehow doesn't pass Bama then all hell breaks loose.

To be completely fair, I think a two-loss SEC Champ Rebels team might still be good enough for a playoff spot, given that they would have beaten Alabama, LSU, State, a myriad of other quality conference opponents, and would have taken revenge against Florida in the SECCG. If Memphis finishes unbeaten, this makes Ole Miss' resume look great.

They did get beat..

and yet it's as if it never happened..

why does Bama get an auto pass on a loss.. yet other teams with less losses or 1 loss don't

The Rebs are gone...Memphis did them in after Fla dismantled them. The committee takes into account that it took 5 turnovers and a fluke play to beat Alabama...it's just a fact.

It did happen. That is why Bama is at 4 instead of 1. If the refs call the illegal man downfield or if the ball bounces a different way off the guys helmet Bama would be #1. They penalized them 3 spots.

That was a bad loss for Ole Miss. The other thing that will make the committee look twice at, as far as the Rebels go, is only scoring 23 points against a putrid A&M defense.

Why is there no outrage for ND being ranked above UF? I mean I know why its just Bama. But those of you using your arguments are leaving them out. Do you really think ND would beat Bama? Or UF?
