Why do people believe a night game benefits the home team?

Some people think Georgia has the advantage this Saturday because the game is at 11:00 AM rather than at night.

I don't understand the logic.

Last year's Mizzou game against South Carolina was a night game that did not result in a Mizzou victory. Point is that it's not like Mizzou is undefeated in night games.

More to the point, if Mizzou can win a night game at a hostile South Carolina...Mizzou should be expected to win a day game at home.

Night games are generally rowdier and allow the crowd to be more involved.

The SEC was the first conference to really embrace the night game in the late 1960s and 1970s (because it's still hot as frick in September). Our teams have a tendency to sleepwalk through morning games and always have.

It's a historical fact

People drink more when the sun is going down. More drinks = more empty bottles to be thrown and more piss for balloons.

Atmosphere is better at night, crowd definitely is louder.

Nobody thinks that and if they do, they're stupid.

It has more to do with the fact that it's better for UGA's practice and recovery schedule the following week to get out of Columbia by 4 or 5PM than it would be 2 or 3 Sunday morning.

Well since y'all don't have a rowdy crowd anyways, it isn't an advantage for y'all.

But for those of us who have rowdy crowds, the crowd is louder at night. Plenty of time to drink and party before the game.

Mizzou has not won every night game they played in at home. Ergo there is no advantage for the home team at night.

The sun and heat usually take the life out of the crowd, but should we expect the northern tigers to understand this

Nobody thinks we have an "advantage" per se, it's just that the home crowd won't be as fired up at 11am as they would be at night. Pretty simple concept.

I HATE early games. Auburn never plays well in them. It takes a full half for the team to wake up it seems. besides it means you have to show up extra early on campus and I personally dont like getting my swerve on at 8AM unless I am going fishing.
