I don't think anyone, even UF fans to some degree, minded the loss given their curcumstance, it was expected.
I think most just don't mind calling a spade a spade.
Uf was depleted and disinterested. Their offense had 3 practice sessions to ready themselves for a game for bragging rights and little else. And, their HC is being distracted with NFL jobs. It was essentially a live spring scrimmage game. Good rep for the young kids, but not worth pounding ones chest about if you're OU.
Beating that UF team by 35 was kind of a joke and should have probably be done with more humility, not chanting SEC, SEC and taking to message boards to talk shite.
Had it been a 35 pt win in the playoffs against their full team, great; talk as much, well deserved shite as you need to get those last 3 CFP losses to SEC teams (including your own 35 pt arse whipping) off of your chest.
That said, I prefer OU to UF and never mind seeing their often overly smug fanbase and HC knocked down a peg or two.

I cringe at those SEC chants at bowl games.

OP's question, though, is "why"
Most folks here know why.
Best conference in sports, hands down. Many of our members don't do the 'pro' thing - leaving us to concentrate on college sports. More bowl games for SEC teams (and wins), results in more money to EVERY school, even powerhouses like Vandy. Better recruiting is another result.
For those who question the mentality of wanting the competition to get better, look no further than Nick Saban. Not only has he produced and represented Alabama with excellance, he has raised the level of competition in SEC competitors as well.

Why do so many Oklahoma fans post on this board?

We see all these teams play every week and get to know their players. We get to learn about kids like Trask and root for them to succeed. So familiarity is part of it. Tend to cheer for guys you identify more with. Plus it is regional pride. Plus people want to say yes we suck but it is because we’re in a tough conference.
I am old enough to remember the ACC chants back before there were SEC chants. It was initially a response to them. So go chant Big12 to your heart’s content. It won’t bother me. The real question is why it bothers you enough to post a topic on an SEC board?

I'd love to have Oklahoma in the SEC - be fine with it being both them and OSU.
WEST
LSU
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Arkansas
Missouri
Ole Miss
Miss St
EAST
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
South Carolina
Would be awesome

I don’t care about SEC bowl performance. I only pull for an SEC team when it has a direct benefit to LSU.
As for the B12, it’s weak. There’s not even a big 2 in the conference. It’s just OU. LSU is 2-0 vs the Sooners in Title or playoff games. Destroying a depleted Gator team is nothing to crow about.

Go check TV ratings for the SEC versus the Big 12.
Ask yourself why the Big "12" now only has 10 teams?
Having a strong conference has benefits.

OU/Texas set up a conference that they could rule, when things are not equal between members. I know A&M wasn't equal either and contributed to the problem in the past, but I have to admit it is nice being in a conference where everything is equal from at least a revenue standpoint. Glad we left you turkeys behind ...
I may not like LSU or Arkansas, but I respect them. I have zero respect for OU or Texas.

I think conference support was a bigger thing 10-12 years ago, doesn’t seem to really be much of a thing anymore. I don’t really know exactly what changed. The “SEC” chants are long gone now. All SEC fans are more than happy to troll over another conference team’s loss than they are interested in overall conference success.
