I also don't put a lot of stock in the average american's geographical acumen.
Even worse, the legislature gave the "Alabama State" moniker to the HBC instead of them. That was some major disrespect in pre-1960s Alabama.

Sorry that we're excited. Do we all need to be doom and gloom or refrain from being proud of what could be?
Not at all - nothing wrong with excitement about your new coach. Also nothing wrong with cautious optimism. We just can't close the book on him at his point. All signs point to Gus being a good one but only time will truly tell the story.

Not saying you're one of those people, but auburn fans are excited about our coach, so like everything, everyone else feels the need to shite on that. It's nothing new, or unique to this situation but that's what happening. And what do you know, when people have different opinions we banter.
I'm not trying to shite on your success or coach. Just throwing out my opinion.

We are at the tip top of the sec. Got the trophy in the case. I have no idea what the future holds. Sorry for liking the coach of my team because he's winning. Damn me for living in the moment.

Congratulations on winning the SEC and making the NC. The team, the coach and the fan base ought be extremely proud of that and no one can dispute you deserving your success this year. My comments were in reference to all the hype of Gus as being a top HC. IMO he's just not there yet. A damn strong year and shows potential but the verdict is still out on him IMO. I don't see the justification for throwing his name out for every top HC job that pops up.

I totally agree. One season does not make a coach nor team. Auburn should realize this because of the last 2 experiences they've had with "great" coaches who had very good teams (Chizic and Terry Bowden).

One season iand a couple years as oc are all we have to judge him on.
Just as much as you can say temper our expectations (still unclear why it's of anyone's concern as to our expectations) I can say he's only scratched the surface of what auburn can do. At his point neither one is better than the other.
In relation to chiz. Any chance his success is attributable to Gus?
And again we aren't the ones throwing his name out for coaching jobs so that's something that you should take up with someone else.

Hey, I'm just suggesting that you temper your expectations a little until you see another year and recruiting class.

You must be using one of those snagging rods with multiple treble hooks attached. It may have been you I saw fishing down by the dam.

You are the same folks that thought Gus was only good because of Cam. That dude is an offensive genius. Maybe they will change the rules to stop him. I would be more concerned about EJ getting a dominate D rolling on the plains. When Marshall leaves your going to see a different style from Gus - not sure what it will look like yet - but you can bet the house it will work. Damn the next several years are going to be fun to watch.

Nope. This is what 13 pages of scared gumps and gump mini-me's look like. Like you. You are scared- with good reason, we beat you this year and we will be markedly better next year. Will bama or whatever team you cheer for be that much improved next year?
Phyllis really is a great spokesperson for the gump nation.
