Why didn’t the SEC go after Alabama for Charles Bediako?

He played actual professional basketball within the NBA’s G league for pay before coming to Alabama, and yet crickets? He didn’t just practice. He competed.
You have to believe this will come up in the hearing.

Perhaps because Alabama didn’t sue the conference and have Governor Kay Ivey and its university president and AD all work in concert to coax Bediako away from his NBA roster days after the conference voted to bar pro players. Perhaps because of all that.

That’s pretty weak sauce considering the indignation was over supposed former professional athletes playing for an SEC school, not any of that extracurricular stuff.

You really don’t even have to go that far back.
Any team who rostered a player who entered the draft, even going undrafted, should face the same punishment.

Because our conference favors some schools over others. And it’s going to get worse.
We’ve seen all we need to see. This SEC isn’t the one you remember. This is the SEC you want to leave.

Maybe you weren't here at the time but everyone in the conference hated Alabama when this happened. When they got bounced from the tournament it was glorious.
But
A) the rule didn't exist yet
B) once the court case was complete, Alabama removed him from the roster and didn't leave the roster spot open as a frick you to the conference

With Alabama, they stopped immediately when told to do so. In my mind though, what LSU is doing is really no different in practical terms. Sanky just feels slighted. That's all this is.

No, I'm not. I think you're misunderstanding what I wrote.
Had Alabama not reverted Bediako off the roster in such a short period of time we probably get this whole scenario more than a year ago.

Yeah, it's really stupid. Hopefully he comes to his senses. If not, he'll regret doing it down the road.

Fair or not (I'd say not fair) but Alabama does get special treatment administratively that the other schools don't. Bama originally put the SEC on the map but we should always play by the rules too.
