I do admire how the petrinotards focus primarily on his affair as being the reason why he's currently unemployed ...

Lulz, it is absolutely the reason he became 'unemployed' at Arkansas, which is the locale & team I'm interested in, not Louisville. And if by 'petrinotards' you mean those who actually gave/give a shite about winning & hiring people who actually do it, instead of hiring lazy assholes who use Arky for a quick buck while sitting on his fatass shoveling in & guzzling every morsel/drop of food & booze on Dickson while collecting a small fortune, or some a-hole barely high school caliber pathetic excuse for a 'coach' who uses Arky & the team by dividing it & running it in the ground for his own personal agenda in re QB personnel, then yeah, sure.
Hahah, what? Screwing a younger, pretty woman? Pretty positive that 'selfish' move puts him in the majority of coaches, not the minority. Coaches have been screwing young pretty females, or their secretaries, office assistants, what have you, since they've been in existence - ask a previous UCA coach. Arky attempting to take some sort of bogus moral high ground regarding this longstanding practice was & continues to be ludicrous, not to mention beyond hypocritical. The fact remains that Petrino took the Hogs from the shitter to 11 wins & a BCS bowl in 4 seasons - presumably while screwing his girlfriend, so evidently, that wasn't a detriment. Perhaps if Arky had given him a new bike & a new girl instead of firing him, the Hogs might've had a shot at an sec championship or even a natty. Point being, Petrino most certainly isn't the only coach to have a girlfriend, even one who works for him, and it certainly doesn't take away from the fact that he cared/cares about winning & actually knows how to do it. ... Until Arkansas hires a coach/coaches with the competitive nature required to be successful at football, desire to win, & knowledge to accomplish it, who doesn't have other self-involved motives, nothing will change.
Sure he does- it's a requirement for success in football, or in any sport - but not for selfish purposes of power & control to the detriment of the team, or for the purpose of setting up one's own undeserving son to be QB, going through half a dozen qualified ones in 2 years thereby screwing over the entire team 'leading' them to the shithole they're in presently. The HC goal should be the team's winning, not using them for his own bullshite and/or settling for mediocrity or worse.
The 2 aren't even comparable. Broyles was obviously in it for his own overly inflated ego, power, & control. Petrino simply loves the game, relishes winning at football, & knows how to do it. An inherently competitive nature & love for/knowledge of the game & winning are requirements for a football HC, and have been lacking for a very long time at U of A.
I know who should be hired - actually, he never should've been fired, & perhaps Arky wouldn't be up shite creek without a paddle right now. Until U of A football hires people with a competitive, win-no-matter-what mentality, & who actually know how to do it, the football program will remain afloat on shite creek until it sinks altogether.

And then Saturdays are a little boring right now.

Nah, I think more like too much ego & overly cocky.

Yeah, ummm, all of that would've been fine had Shaddy actually caught the ball; instead he overran it. If you're going to play hero, better be goddamn sure you make the play.
Yeah, this one is a tough one to take. It's like a girl having won Miss America & as they're just about to crown her, they say, "OOPS!! The judges made a mistake in their calculations!!! You didn't really win!!!" Sucks beyond words. I've always said it's easier to take in a championship or other big game to get your arse beat than be so close & lose. This is as close to winning as I've ever seen & come away without the title. But something's gotta work out for the Hogs soon; you can only go so long with ultra crappy stuff happening; there has to be a shift soon - that's the way it works, I think, hopefully.

For all you guys getting moist and touchy-feely over his platitudes, did he explain anything about the play?

Did anybody call it? Did he see know the FB was lining up to make the catch? Would he have done anything different if he had to do it over? etc, etc.

The interviewer should have asked specific questions about the play. If he didn't, then he dropped his own pop fly.

Agree with all of this. Of course that play was "a hard one to make" coming from 2nd, but it wasn't nearly as difficult of a play to make for the 1st baseman and/or right fielder, who were right there, which is why that play was theirs to make. Not going to crucify them about it, but I didn't hear him say much about what he probably should have done differently, which is probably to allow the first baseman to make the play; he was lined up with it. And 1st base and/or right should've called him off in a big way, but they didn't, I guess, by Shaddy's account, so that's that. Still my opinion he shouldn't have been going for it in the first place. ... Just hate to see something like that at this level & caliber of ball. That play should be shown to little leaguers in re 'how NOT to field a pop-up and the importance of playing your position & calling the ball.' ... Life goes on, I suppose, but this one is a very tough one to take.
Yep, feels a thousand times shittier than when Stoerner laid down the ball on the field against #1 TN when we had it won - at least he had sort of an excuse of tripping. ... Still stunned & a little nauseous about this highly unfortunate incident which will no doubt be replayed during the CWS every year for forever. It'll take a while to recover from this one.
I feel a thousand times worse than when Stoerner laid down the ball on the field against #1 TN when we had it in the bag. Was literally paralyzed when that ball hit the ground with 3 guys staring at it. Don't even remember the homer Oregon St. hit after that. ... Oh well, at least I remember the feeling of the '94 Hogs b'ball championship game; I keep channeling that right now. This too shall pass ... until next year & every year after that, for forever, when the CWS rolls around & they show the replay of it at least 5 times.

I know Cayden; he's a good friend of my son's. Great hitter. No doubt he's a bit over 200lbs. Big boy & strong. Really good kid & smart.

Yeah, I didn't see anyone offended or 'triggered;' just some asking what the shark thing is about??? :dunno: ... Btw, the term 'triggered' triggers me.

Love the "Full Tilt Boogie" sign. Was wondering if that would catch on when Coach M said it to the football team. ... "Sharkansas" is pretty clever; maybe now that everyone's talking about it, somebody can find or make some red/white shark costumes. It'd be different for sure.
Yeah, that's always the type of shite people who aren't winning say. :casty:

Oh damn, after riding in low gear with BB for the past few years, some of the guys might be a little lost with Coach M at first.
