re: Oblivion Remake could shadow drop as early as tomorrow

I know all that cause I find the games easy  The inherent problem imo is that the entire game centers around dodge R1 on repeat as an optimal answer the overwhelming majority of the time with no emphasis on a balance of aggression and defensiveness. It only punishes aggressiveness and encourages you to play passively.
I am someone who wants to weave in and out of the insanity and blow up the enemy, but with execution required of me i.e. I screw up I get punished, but I am rewarded for being good. From games just don't provide that.
I can clear a boss in a From game in record time by being turbo aggressive, sure, but I am not actually rewarded in anyway besides saving a smidge of time.
Other games you have to balance it out because of regenerating stamina etc that bosses have.
As for the movesets, when I realized that the majority of weapons have the exact same moveset, that really hit hard for any enjoyment in variety of weapons. I can use basically the entire list besides some oddball weapons with optimal efficiency because they behave the same.

quote:Man, I don't want to derail this thread, but I find from's combat flow to be so tedious and uninteresting lol It's just dodge R1 for everything in the series with no variation for >95% of it
elden ring combat is perfection, honestly just go caster if you struggle a lot with the dodge rolling

Finished the base game last night.
Man, what a finale sequence! I have really enjoyed this game, and now I'm on to NG+ and intend to run greatsword eventually to try it out.
For me, GOTY so far. We'll see if it keeps that naturally.

A bit less complicated than Nioh, but still a decent number of similarities. Both Khazan and Nioh have a solid emphasis on a lot of player tools that give you a lot of potential power, but you have to be good with them. If you're on point, you can thrash enemies, but if you're not, you know how this ends
The combat depth is one of the main highlight points basically.
They both have noteworthy buildcrafting although Nioh gets even deeper, but Khazan's is good so far.
I don't know how much depth there is to the NG+ content in Khazan, but Nioh is well known for having a very in depth NG+ cycle with new mechanics, different enemy behaviors, and a wide variety of other things that are, in my opinion, the benchmark for an excellent NG+ cycle. I'll find out soon enough if Khazan does that or not.

Just wrapped up the Hismar fight. Normally I get more frustrated with cameras in dragon fights, but this one was fine. Not perfect, but certainly better than many I've dealt with. It was a very cool fight overall and felt fair, which has been my overall experience with the bosses thus far.
Definitely in the endgame stage now.

I like the long list of QoL improvements they made.
Last major boss I fought was Bellerian, so on towards the gate mission next. I intend to start experimenting more with reflection at some point, and I'm glad my time using yokai shift in Nioh 2 is helping out with phantom form usage

Took out Maluca. That fight was incredible imo, and the fact that we're still unlocking new mechanics has me excited for the future. Flash Cutter in dual wield has been an excellent pickup as an additional strong defensive tool.

You weren't kidding about scratching the Nioh itch
This game has been fantastic so far. The combat feels really good, and it feels like a proper skill check in that you have some wildly powerful stuff to abuse, but you have to be good with it.

I've knocked out 3ish playthroughs over time at this point, and the updates really have improved the game significantly since launch. I may have to check out that new update eventually.
re: How often do you record your own gameplay? And why?

I don't specially do recording, but I do utilize replays in competitive games for review purposes. I mainly do that with fighting games, but it's useful in any competitive genre.

Some light bullying is actually good for kids
I dealt with bullying growing up, and I remember some of them claiming it's just light bullying when I would ask them to stop. Did they stop? No. Did they actually care about me? Clearly not or else they wouldn't be engaging in such behavior.
If you want to correct something that isn't good, you resolve it properly with communication. You don't treat someone poorly and hope they read between the lines.

It's up to you naturally. I'll just list the recs I know of. Mix and match to whatever works for you.
The primary recommendations are:
- Pump a lot into your primary weapon stat
- Pump enough into Magic and Dexterity to get maximum capacity for both categories so you can use plenty of magic and ninjutsu. This compliments any build you could run due to the utility you gain. Do note that if you want heavy damage from either of these, more investment will be needed.
- Pump points to keep your armor passives active. This is consistent within the same armor category i.e. medium will require the two same stats, heavy a different set of two, and so on for light.
- Pump just enough into other stats for the heavy up front bonuses. This only requires a light amount before the various soft caps kick in. Somewhere around 10-20 in those other stats.

Also, is it cheating to occasionally use the blue revenant guys to help ya?

quote:I thought about bringing that up, but it was more of an issue in the 1st one in my opinion  First Nioh went crazy with the DLC difficulty spike.
some people struggle with the difficulty in the DLC right after finishing NG base game, so some find it helpful to go through some regions in NG+ to get better gear before starting the DLCs.
Sloth's point is valid though. If you feel like the DLC spike is too much, doing some NG+ first is not a bad idea.

DLC then NG+. Rinse and repeat.
You'll start getting Divine rarity stuff so you can maintain a proper gear set now as well.

Just started using the Tonfa and really like it. This game is like crack. Man I've wasted my whole weekend play it.

I have mainly used Switchglaive and Dual Swords although I've used all weapon types to some degree. Switchglaive just keeps me coming back to it

I pretty much agree with everything Sloth said. Playing the first one up front is just easier on you since going backwards can be pretty jarring (QoL improvements are significant, FPS cap is 120 in Nioh 2 instead of 60 in the first game).
I will add on that the Nioh games are much different from Souls games as the Souls series has very shallow combat (at least in my opinion) whereas Nioh emphasizes a complex combat system. The equipment in general is completely different as Nioh has item rarity, full blown set bonuses, and all kinds of equipment refining you can do for the purpose of build crafting. Souls games generally have very little of that
In other words, Nioh and Souls games have more differences than similarities.
