To see a coach waste talent like that must have been painful. Not 21-0 or 17-0 bad but still hard. Was he attracted by academic opportunity?

Seriously you can't be this stupid.
But for the benefit of those who have yet to discover Wikipedia: Dale Brown was doing a basketball clinic in Germany. He met Shaq and thought he was a soldier--he was only 13 and tall. They kept in touch and that's why Shaq ended up at LSU.
