I would say probably not.

LSU is historically on a lower tier than Bama, as are most teams. If you were to assume that Bama and LSU are relatively equal in all areas of their football programs except for the HC aspect, why hasn't LSU had an undefeated season since the 50's? Has LSU historically made bad choices for their HC hires?

Only LSU people that realize CFB existed prior to 2000 need answer.

Fill me in. I knew nothing of his addictions. I honestly never knew this.

I don't think so.. I think he would have still had a lot of success, just not the Bama type success. Bama is a traditional blue-blood with almost UNLIMITED resources, budget, tradition, etc AND he has been given carte blanche. When he came back to Bama he was a better coach but it's MUCH easier to build a powerhouse program at places like Bama, OSU, USC, etc. As much as I like the Yaw Yaws and they are a top tier program, they aren't a traditional blue-blood.

Let this sink in, Mike Shula, Mike Price, and Dennis Fran, looked like rock stars at times when they were at Bama. Would ANYONE consider those guys top notch coaches?

You are choosing to ignore all the evidence

LSU was a machine from 2003-2007, with only having saban for 2 of those years

It was never news. It was just obvious to everybody and moreso to me because I literally frick people up for a living in the OR. He was drugged in 2010 and HARD. That was not a man who was just doing what the shrink said, it was a man who literally could not function at his previous pace.

He either had a doctor who abused him by giving him an inappropriate med combo or dosage or he was getting more off the street. I'd bet my life on it.

Interesting....

I at least owe him a hint of gratitude. He crapped himself losing to Mich St so we could get to Pasadena.

I loved the photo of him hanging his head over a box of Papa John's afterwards. That pic was Good stuff.

Well for one, while his talent at LSU was good, it wasn't on the level that he's had at Alabama. And let's not act as if ESPN and the rest of the media sucking him off the second he stepped foot on that campus didn't have anything to do with that. Do you really think if the roles were reversed that LSU wouldn't be doing what Bama is doing now?

Yeah but to fit LSUs scenario, Urban would've had to have gone to UGA or UT to truly piss off UF.

He used LSU to get name recognition. Then went to Alabama to refine his coaching abilities while waiting on the Miss State job - the one he always wanted. Don't get me wrong, Alabama is a good gig but Msu is where his heart is. We are all very excited for the breaking news at seasons end.

Because what happened in the past honestly doesnt matter

the fact is lsu did this because of saban

2003-13-1 national title-Coach saban
2004-9-3- finished 15-coach saban on way out
2005-11-2 finished #5----coach miles
2006-11-2 finished #3----coach miles
2007- 12-2 national champs-----coach miles

I know you and everyone else will admit how much better saban is than miles, so is he at least 1 or 2 games better in 2005 and 2006? Most would say there is a damn good possibility. So you are looking at the possibility of 4/5 national titles, or 3/5.

As is, LSU won 2/5, which is still elite. The actual evidence of Saban, and the few years following his players, shows lsu was on an all time run

And here come all the gumps acting as if it's the program and not the coach. If you think there's something special about Alabama that makes it easier to win, then don't claim in the same breath that Saban is the greatest coach.

Don't pass your opinion off as fact. There is no evidence that Urban had a drug problem.

I KNEW it was coming FULL SPEED ahead too. They are just as insecure as LSU folks.

I did NO SUCH THING. I was very clear that I was giving my opinion as informed by my relevant education as a CRNA.
