That is well-within your choice to do so. I've stated why we don't.

You are entitled to your opinion as to what is true or not, obviously I disagree as this is not just about internet trolls. Do you not listen / read the national media for one? Read USA Today? Here in B.Rouge, The Morning Advocate? Time Magazine? Watched the 100's of YouTube videos recording real life interactions ?

Does it hurt you in any way? The old ones look so much nicer than the modern art crap you see in front of new buildings.

I mean The best painting of Hitler probably still isn’t worth hanging in public.

Can this go too far?

Are a lot of historical figures in a huge gray area? Absolutely

But there are also historical figures who aren’t in a gray area. Jefferson Davis isn’t a net positive in US history

Because they aren't the problem.
From 2000 to 2015, the mean African-American homicide-victimization rate, adjusted for age, was 20.1 per 100,000. That’s more than three times the Hispanic rate of 6.4 and over seven times the average white rate, 2.7. Moreover, as already noted, from 1976 to 2005, 94 percent of the killers of black murder victims were other African Americans.

Blacks blame whites, statues, songs, flags, anything except where the actual blames lies...with themselves.

What statue ever caused someone to choose food stamps and welfare over getting a job? What flag ever caused single moms to milk the government to take care of a bunch of kids?

So Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. was a preacher that preached from the Bible that has a very harsh opinion of a man that sleeps with another man and that makes him the homophobic, okay. And people always have opinions about you it doesn't mean that it is true like he was supposed to be a communist also. We should ban the Bible it's homophobic and talks about bearing false witness.

Would trade bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest for bust of Malcolm X any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

MLK would be shamed out of BLM if he were around today. His homophobia aside, he was far to reasonable and civil to be tolerated in today's methods of protest.

Dr. King was very conservative in his approach to protest and firmly wedded to the principle of nonviolence. Some of the more effective campaigns of the civil rights era were initiated against his advice or without his approval and he had to get on board. (Birmingham children’s marches, student lunch counter sit ins).

Towards the end there were more vocally radical elements of the civil rights movement who had lost patience with/respect for Dr. King. His assassination made him a martyr frozen in time as a titan. But in reality had he lived his influence and credibility may have continued to erode.

I honestly admire all the front line soldiers of the 60s era civil rights campaigns. What they did facing down hostile, frequently armed mobs took a lot of courage. (Rep John Lewis is seen by many as an idiot but he was incredibly brave as a young civil rights worker. I will always admire him for that.) And they changed the US, and particularly the South for the better. And by God I love the South.

There is surely some lingering elements of the Jim Crow era that should be addressed. But I am really turned off by the whole nothing is sacred cancel culture where everything has to be sacrificed to appeasement. And I damn sure am not going to be voluntarily shamed over this notion of white privilege.

I don’t see a lot of arguments over Jefferson Davis statues. I see mainly war memorials to the dead being vandalized which is lower than pig shite on the part of the “protesters.” The DC protesters were desecrating ALL the war memorials, not Confederate memorials. When you start spray painting statues of Lincoln you lost me and most normal people.

Also if you are going to bring something as ridiculous as Hitler into the discussion, Sherman and Grant were much closer to war criminals than Lee and Jackson.
