How will pulling down monuments, changing the names of buildings, forbidding certain rides at a theme park, cutting out a football teams chant, etc. change poverty, poor education, and the perceived oppression of African Americans?

My family has never owned any Mercedes because we aren't rich, pretentious cocksuckers.

That's not the intent. Study China's Cultural Revolution for a better understanding of this movement's "ends".

Should everyone just agree with everything and do anything that the BLM movement says or wants, and if not commit suicide? If we erase history, nobody learns from it, and we act like it never happened it may repeat itself.

It's not virtue signaling when the individual in question (my uncle) was one of the founding donors to the Holocaust Memorial in DC and was on the Board of Trustees at Technion (University in Israel) until he died. (he was 98) Every company he worked for, he would use a taxi or a bus instead of taking a "company car" if it was a Mercedes. He was smuggled out of Poland in the 30's by his family and was the only survivor.

My grandfather was at Pearl Harbor and I drive a Toyota (made in Texas, but still a Jap truck). Hell, Daimler's Chairman isn't even German.

That being said, that's your decision to make with your money and it isn't like you're asking for Daimler to be given to Israel or something because of their past transgressions.

Saudi Arabia didn't abolish slavery until 1961.

This is actually a relevant question if you do any research into the way that "third country nationals" are treated in Middle Eastern Countries. They enter the country and their visas are taken, resulting in them having to "work for their freedom". At one point, it was speculated that nearly 4,000 of them will die building Qatar's 2022 World Cup stadiums.

Kuwait's economy would plummet if all third country national workers were all of a sudden treated like humans.

There is a reason that anyone being assigned to the Middle East or deployed to the CENTCOM AOR has to take multiple classes on Human Trafficking.

Was Toyota started using slave labor from the survivors of the Bata'an Death March? That's the equivalent.

Yeah and people here are oppressed. Especially in Georgia where anyone with a certain GPA or higher and maintains it go to college for free.

Honestly, what is wrong with a statue? Does it hurt you in any way? The old ones look so much nicer than the modern art crap you see in front of new buildings. The statue thing is just a cover for ripping down all of American history. You know you will go for the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument next. How can you not if any person who ever owned a slave was evil and cannot have any type of commemorative structure? So we have to rename the state of Washington and every city named Washington, Jefferson, or Madison, right? We have to change all of our money. This will never end and anyone who is half way intelligent realizes that. Maybe I don't want the most successful and powerful society on the face of the earth to be completely changed because its only down from here. There is nothing wrong with that position. While I do enjoy seeing major urban areas who only vote Democrat for every level of government literally burn themselves down while somehow blaming others for their problems, I don't really want that for my neighborhood. I guess that makes me crazy.

I don't know or care. I am sure someone (by their nationality, ethnicity, or religion) who I have regular interaction in my life probably committed some transgression against my ancestors.

Being bitter about something that happened 80 years ago - the Holocaust - is not any better than being bitter about something happened 160 years ago - slavery - especially when it didn't actually happen to you or me.

Like I said earlier though, it is your money and I nor anyone should tell you how to spend it.

Except that it actually happened to relatives of mine.

It's all about the thrill of being able to break shite and pitch a temper tantrum like a crazy ex-girlfriend

How do else do you explain the vandalism of and "BLM" of a Catholic statue in Portugal, St. Anthony Viera, a man who advocated for the abolishment of slavery and native rights in Brazil

John Greenleaf Whittier, a Quaker poet that was a big abolitionist. His memorial was also vandalized.

Some people in MA defaced a monument of the 54th Mass. Literally a black Union regiment that killed confederates.

I'm not against removing racist statues. I'm against a frothing mob and their forest fire methods. This feels more like a condemnation of the education system than anything else.

Prairievillian, here's my reaction.

I provided links to four articles about insanity coming from the social-justice-warrior woke left.

I can easily dig up other examples of articles wherein the following are considered to be "racist" by the SJW left.

Capitalism
Two-parent traditional households
Reading to your kids at night
Expecting people to show up on time for events or work
Thinking there are objective standards of right and wrong
Owning guns
Disagreeing with any idea put forth by SJWs
Liking Thanksgiving
Halloween Costumes
Ben Shapiro speaking on campus at Berkeley

A "healthy conversation" with the SJW left means they get to scream things at me while I stay silent.

According to them, I have no right to speak and should just shut up, mainly because of my gender, my skin color and my sexual orientation.

But then, my silence is violence, too.

Oh, and me being annoyed about any of this is "white fragility."

As such, I am disinclined to submit to anything the lefty SJW outrage mob is in favor of.

After reading the rant the last few days its abundantly clear that you all definitely dont want anything to change. Regardless of how decisive it may be. Regardless of who brings up the topic. Its consistantly a strong hell no. Really just want a healthy conversation about the times we are in

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. If you can't tell the difference and think it's all about statues or whatever, then are you really someone who is even capable of "healthy conversation" in the first place?

Uh oh. My first car was a VW. Someone call my employer and have them cancel themselves for hiring me.

They're twitter @ is @ClemsonUniv. Swear to God that's where I work. They deserve to be punished for this transgression. I'll take the blame. My burden to bear.

MLK would be shamed out of BLM if he were around today. His homophobia aside, he was far to reasonable and civil to be tolerated in today's methods of protest.

This let me know you have no idea what you’re talking about. Read something other than his “I Have A Dream” speech.
