UGA hasn't had a recruiting class ranked outside the Top 3 nationally since 2017 after Saban's #1 pupil arrived. That's statistically impossible unless you're buying players. You can lie to yourself if you want but everyone knows what's happening.

Schools were doing pay for play long before the NIL started. With the ENIL is just out in the open now. You don’t think Nick Saban given away all those Dodge chargers which everybody seen all over the Internet was not paid for play?

There's a reason UGA wasn't being investigated for buying players and Tennessee was.

Dude don’t be stupid or that naive. UGA was doing it. Turned the Vols in for doing it to avoid scrutiny. I know for an absolute fact Mimms was given 180,000 to go to UGA. Pruitt offered him 80k and paid him 20k but UGA gave him move upfront money to go to UGA.

Nobody wanted the Pruitt fumbling of paying recruits to go public because it would have caught up Oklahoma, UGA, Bama, Baylor and a couple others in the fallout. The amounts discussed were only Pruitt and staff direct payout. The TE coach was getting funds from 2 boosters to do the real money.

Nope. Smart is a top flight recruiter and hires top flight recruiters up and down his staff.

UGA also has a recruiting budget double the next closest SEC team.

If it were just buying players, more coaches would be able to do it. The fact that only three have been able to (Smart, Saban and Day at OSU) shows that it's not about buying players. The teams caught doing that are in fact worse at recruiting than those three coaches.

If it were just about paying players, there would be more guys recruiting at the level of Smart, Saban and Day.

Please provide links to your evidence then.

Until you have evidence, it didn't happen.

I get you want to believe everyone is cheating to make you feel better about your team cheating. But the reality is you guys were bragging about paying players and that just wasn't happening anywhere else.

I suppose everyone could have been cheating but only Tennessee fans were stupid enough to talk about it. You guys are pretty dumb. Is that your argument?

The naivety would be charming if it wasn’t so stupid.

Because I love college football. I don’t care that much about the NFL.

It appears that college football is dying and what we will be left with is minor league NFL football.

The NCAA is flawed. But they are the glue that holds it all together. I am afraid the death of the NCAA would also mean the death of college football.

Call me old or a boomer, but I loved the game as it used to be.
Traditional conference rivalries,
occasional big out-of-conference matchups with name teams (where you want to see how you match up with an Ohio State or USC, for example),
the random "who are they?" creampuff blowouts at home (we're playing WHO? The Vermont A&M Flying Squirrels? Well... interesting color scheme, green and lavender, I guess they pull if off. Hey, there's the 4th 80 yd TD run on a toss sweep this quarter- yay!),
the goal and glory of getting to the Sugar Bowl and frick the rankings.

I actually enjoyed the controversy and What Ifs that happened when 2 or more teams finished undefeated. It made the sport feel bigger, as such. You could be the best in the South, the East, the Midwest, the West, etc; and just because the AP said Penn State was #1, it didn't mean that Alabama, Nebraska or USC had to acknowledge it. We all "knew" we'd beat their arse if they played us.
It made for great discussions, and great fan support. We weren't #1 because we weren't the media favorite, not because we weren't good enough.

All that is lost now.

Some people actually have connections beyond the cashier at Walmart where you bought your UGA hat and t-shirt.

It's mainly the fans of teams who had the NCAA in their pockets.

Of course they want the NCAA to keep its power.

That is exactly who is worried.

The reason so many Bama and UGA fans hate the next paradigm in this sport is because now everyone can do what they’ve been doing. They are losing their advantage. It’s like when they created March Madness and suddenly the dynasties ended over night. The days of Wooden and Saban winning a rigged playoff are over.

As for the poster claiming UGA hasn’t paid players. Dude, you are being laughed at by even UGA fans. I’m in south Georgia and have several former UGA players in my inner circle who are still connected to Kirby (from here). They love to talk about Kirby finally bringing in the bag man system which took them to the next level unlike Richt. They especially laugh at how inexact it is because the QB’s they paid didn’t do it, but a walk on did.
