Why are so many people sleeping on LSU??

Let me be clear. I hate LSU.
With that said, holy hell they are loaded.
I think anyone with any football IQ can look at them and see they just need a QB to make 10-15 throws a game and they could compete for a NC this season.
I like the Harris kid, I think he is a winner. It looks like a lot of people outside of LSU underestimate the guy.

I don't think they get good qb play this year, but i do think they win 9 games

LSU will be lucky to see that many attempts in a game.

They overreact to his ONE start AT auburn as a true freshman. They forget he was an elite recruit who has all the talent in the world

Agreed
LSU is my pick to do work in the West. They are always loaded so if they get decent QB play lookout.

Who all are they returning on the O-line?

What's the 9 wins, if I might ask?
eta:
They shouldn't be. We have a Hulk.

People are going off last year, assuming everything will be the same, factoring in Chavis leaving and think that he was the sole reason they won anything, and are looking at Steele's last game at Clemson. It is very lazy thinking, but that is what we get these days.
LSU returns 16 starters from a very young team last year. They will be better. But, the "decline" narrative is appealing so people run with it.
But, yes, they are loaded.

The biggest thing going against them is that SEC West teams generally have great run defenses. With the offenses in the league now, you have to score points. And it's hard to do that if you don't have at least the threat of a competent passing game.
Nobody is sleeping on them though, I think everyone expects 9-10 wins which is about right.

LSU is always loaded. Yet they find a way to...

QB play is the only reason. Their team morale will skyrocket if they get good QB play.
Steele as DC as well.

He does have an elite arm and legs.

I'm curious as well

Sounds like wishful thinking considering you've no idea how the QBs will shape up.

LSU isn't a sexy pick because, to be honest, they cratered at the end of last year. Along with Ole Miss and Moo State.
Now I know that gets fans waving their piss balloons, cowbells, and KKK outfits... but the fact is all three teams had a miserable end to the season. People aren't going all in on any of them.
That having been said, if they get on a roll all three teams, especially LSU, have the talent to contend for and with some lucky bounces win the West. Yes, including Ole Miss.
The two teams I don't think will win it, but have the talent to finish in the middle of the pack if anyone stumbles are the Aggies and the Hogs. The Aggies probably need a year to get their defense going. The Hogs probably need a year to continue to rebuild from the Hiroshima like effect of the end of the Petrino era and John L. Smith.

Their offense is shite
Their defense lacks quality front seven depth
Their new defensive coordinator got a train run on him by the anemic ACC during his time at Clemson
And even if they can overcome all of that and are in every single tough game at the end, Les Miles is still there "managing" the clock.

offense:
-Fournette and a deep stable of backs
-Massive and experienced OL
-2 6'5", athletic tight ends and some big blocking TE's
-5 receivers that will at least make NFL rosters, maybe two first rounders there
-Jennings is mediocre but very experienced, and Harris is inexperienced but clearly a great talent
defense:
-Absolutely loaded secondary
-Deep interior and probably the most underrated DT in Davon Godchaux. Lots of experience. Solid DE but some depth issues
-All-American MLB in Kendall Beckwith, and two decent but very athletic OLB. Probably biggest weakness on the team
-Steele coaching the linebackers, O the line, and Raymond the secondary make for arguably the best position trio in the country. Play calling can't be THAT bad.
Special teams
-All punters and kickers returning
-all return specialists and a taller, faster Adoree Jackson coming in with Donte Jackson. I think he's going to explode on the scene.
LSU is pretty hungry to return to the top of the pecking order too. The schedule has me uneasy going to Tuscaloosa, Oxford, Starkville, and Columbia, but we still get Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, and A&M at home.
I think it's going to be a pretty wild 2-3 way tie for the SECW, so i think LSU has as good of a shot as anyone really. I'm thinking 10-3/11-2 and not to sound like a Cubs fan, but we're set nicely for 16-18
