I don't think 9 games is wishful thinking for LSU, you really think 8's the ceiling?

Jerald Hawkins (moving from RT to LT), Ethan Pocic (moving from C to LG) and Vadal Alexander (moving from LG to RT)

LSU is loaded every year. The defense we be worse under Steele, Fournette is overrated like all of their backs always are and they can not develop a QB. Throw in a couple of time management games and that is LSU football. 9-3

Ragland is the only one close.

We move Hawkins from RT to LT, move Vadal Alexander from LG to RT. Both guys have been playing since 2012. Pocic who has played since 2013 is put at LG and RS Freshman Clapp is at center. Josh Boutte is an bulldozer at RG. The guy is like 6'5 340 and stands out from the rest of the line who is at 295-305.

Despite what people may think, we have quality depth across the entire defense and we are not going to be 3-4. I have no idea how this 3-4 talk got anywhere. Steele used a 4-3 at Clemson and Orgeron is a 4-3 defensive line guy. Our LBs are the most talented and experienced we've had in a very long time which Steele should only further develop. Our DL should be very good with emerging stars. I don't think I need to go into the secondary as it will be the best in the nation.

I wonder where the running back who was 3rd in the NFL in yards per attempt went to college......

The two teams I don't think will win it, but have the talent to finish in the middle of the pack if anyone stumbles are the Aggies and the Hogs. The Aggies probably need a year to get their defense going. The Hogs probably need a year to continue to rebuild from the Hiroshima like effect of the end of the Petrino era and John L. Smith.

The only reason I'm reluctant on Arkansas to Atlanta is their schedule. I love what the pigs have coming back, but at LSU, Bama, UT, and Ole Miss is just brutal.

I think A&M is at the bottom of the SECW on paper, but I really like their schedule if they by Arizona State week one. 3 easy wins, a beatable Bama team at home, and they drew Carolina and Vandy from the East. I wouldn't be shocked if they went 9-3 with the schedule and Chavis patching things up just enough. I'm still not too high on Sumlin, but the aggie defense will surprise. Chavis did a very bang up job his first season at LSU.

Ragland is good but he takes a lot of false steps if you watch film on him. His speed makes up for initial mistakes.

Come on now Rog Les is a little smarter than Dabo.

Now that seems like wishful thinking, at the very least severe homerism

Play calling can't be THAT bad.

Kevin Steele ran a 3-3-5 drop cover 4 scheme against an air raid offense in the 2012 Orange Bowl for the ENTIRE game.

Now that may not mean anything to the average LSU fan, but to those of us who understand football it is a damning indictment of his defensive game-planning abilities. That is, literally, the WORST defensive scheme you can possibly run against an air raid scheme. Had he WANTED to give up 70 he couldn't have intentionally picked a worse scheme.

Dana Holgerson was quoted after the game as saying they actually changed their offensive game plan at halftime despite being so successful because they were SURE Clemson would stop running the 3-3-5 cover 4. They never did, and WVU went back to what they were doing after one series in the second half.

Dana fricking Holgerson called out Kevin Steele's ability to call a defense. Holy fricking shite.

From a recruiting rankings standpoint, not really. It's been pointed out many times that on paper LSU hasn't been a notch above the pack since 2012, because recruiting was honestly sliding. shite on Steele all day but he and O are slaughtering the recruiting trail. It's exciting to see the injection of talent LSU has on the way with this upcoming class (assuming it goes as planned)

2014 was LSU's least talented team since 2009. You don't just lose your best qb in 10 years and the top 3 NFL offensive rookies and not take a significant step back.
