Why are LSU fans convinced that Pete sucks as a coach?

Simple question. No need to involve Lane. Simply about Pete. Many on here have said that Pete will fail. What makes you so certain? What are you basing this opinion on?

LSU fan here. He should have a nice season. Pete will know Lane’s offense so I think his defense will do okay. He’s got Chambliss and Lacy so that’s that. LSU will have a handful of wrinkles I suspect. I’m pulling for LSU to win.

usually you want someone who's experienced with running a program and with front office style situational experience, especially at this point and time with nil and everything. I dont think anyone's overly convinced that he is a great d coordinator and he has little to no experience with other parts of running a program. he may end up being great but there will be bumps in the road especially in the 2027 season when he has to replace chambliss , lacy ,and others.

he could be not cut out for the job and still have a decent year this year . we wont know what yall have until 2027

the good news is that he has some pretty good front office types on staff so hopefully he can stay out of that as much as possible

At least the more reasonable Tigah fans are replying at this point.

As for replacing Chambliss, we have several QBs now that are going to be decent.

Lacy is the best true RB I've ever seen but we are in on a 5 star recruit so hopefully we will have an answer there.

I'm not convinced he sucks. He did put a pretty mediocre defense on the field last year though and has no head coaching experience.

I also think the fact that the hire had to be rushed just gives people the feeling that he wouldnt have been the first choice if lane would have left for lsu after the season was over .

I really doubt he would have gotten the job of there could have been a real coaching search. im curious if ole miss fans can honestly say that they agree or disagree with this statement.

anytime things are rushed it just gives a sense of disorganization. even though it had to be someone on staff.thats where alot of the opinions come from and I'm not positive people with those opinions even realize that its the reason they feel the way they do about him. it may be subconscious almost

They may have been on to something because PG as their DC was an utter failure.

The better question is, what reason does anyone have to believe that he will be a good head coach?

Sumrall was supposed to be the hire but their AD seems to have thought Lane was staying so Florida was able to secure him.

We didn't spend much money on defense last year, which hurt. We spent in 2024 And he gave us the #2 defense in the country.

The question is not if he sucks in the near term. He probably won’t. He inherits a good roster, maybe even great. Many assistants have done well taking over a solid program built by their predecessor. In addition to the roster, he inherits a team conditioned to succeed winning culture.

The question is whether he can sustain it. Larry Coker inherited a rich roster and tradition at Miami. He won a national championship in his first season. He had two double digit win seasons following that. Then there was a slow descent.
Frank Solich did well initially for 3 or 4 seasons but never repeated Osborne’s success.

Simply put, the jury is out. He doesn’t have a real track record and wasn’t highly sought after in prior coaching searches. The Ole Miss AD had little choice but to promote Pete. He was the default choice.

Why do Rebel fans act like Kiffin didn’t resurrect a moribund program?

Don’t think many have said he sucks as a coach? The fact is he really has zero experience in this position so no one knows lol.
