Saban defenses tend to play a lot of man on man in the secondary. Good receivers and accurate qb's can and have had success against Bama.(look up Gary Danielson's formula to beat Alabama) To get Bama to go to man coverage an oline must be able to block an elite defensive line. If an oline does this, then Bama will start with Saban's blitz packages, in order to get pressure. That is when they get have the best chance to take the top off the Bama defense. Having a qb like Clemson's Watson who can buy time with his legs helps as well. Nobody runs on Bama, it is the first thing they take away. So the only limited success against the Bama defense has been through the air. Then fans such as yourself jump to conclusions and say that Bama's secondary is the weak link. I don't really agree with him, but that stat measures you pass rush as much as your defensive back abilities. Your pass rush is utterly elite this year so the fact that you are "only " 6th in the nation and really only faced a couple decent QBs means your secondary is probably "good" but not great and definitely not elite.

I watched us abuse one of them, but the other caught as many of our passes as any of our own guys did...who knows.

If Bama loses to Washington it will be because their QB/WR combo just exploded with one of those days, but I honestly think they could have one of those days and still lose. My prediction: through 2.5 quarters it won't be close at all but the score will be close, then the final score will be at least as lop sided as the actual game.

I hope you are right, but I think it will be closer to 3 td's than 5. Petersen is a good coach too. He'll attack the Bama defense with quick passes, and tell Browning not to hold onto to the ball as long. He'll know UW won't have much success with the running game. I think he will run just enough to keep Bama's defense honest. But I know UW has to pass a lot to beat Bama and hit a high percentage of them. If I know this, you can bet Petersen knows this too. UW is a well coached team with several elite athletes, but they need a couple of more excellent recruiting classes to be able to compete with Bama for four quarters. Like I said they have some good athletes, but Bama simply has more of them.
