Bama does not waste a lot of time on 5 star dbs they put their stock into OL LB and DL. Lsu goes after 5 star dbs and wrs leaving the main positions voided.

Rashad Johnson, a bama walk on, solidified his name as a savage NFL DB. Mofricka ripped his fingy off and still made a play.

frick AZ for trading him, but can't be too upset.

I know you want this to be true but it isn't.

Maybe, just maybe, the fact that Bama is always very adept at shutting down the run leads opponents to rely heavily on the passing game. Also, Bama often jumps out to a big lead which further necessitates teams to try and gain yardage in chunks. If you throw the ball often enough you're gonna eventually complete a few, whether it's a blown coverage or just a good play by the offense. There is no defense against a perfectly thrown ball. Bama's secondary often is the "weak link" because their front 7 is normally elite and regardless of how good the entire unit is, something HAS to be the "most average" of the sum of the parts. Kinda like being the poorest millionaire.

Waine Bacon is another BAMA walk-on that played in the league for several years.

Current DB's in the league:

Clinton-Dix - Packers (Pro Bowl)
Collins - Giants (Pro Bowl)
Barron - Rams (Moved from SS to LB)
Harper - Panthers
Jackson - Texans
Johnson - Titans
Jones - Patriots
Kirkpatrick - Bengals
Sunseri - 49'ers

Can't forget about Javier Arenas. He played for a handful of years too.
Not bad for a little 5'8" 2* recruit.

I always loved the way that guy played.

Some highligts.

Nobody runs on Bama, it is the first thing they take away. So the only limited success against the Bama defense has been through the air. Then fans such as yourself jump to conclusions and say that Bama's secondary is the weak link. This is the weakest link you can find on Bama's defense? BINGO!

And that goes back to saban's days at LSU.
His secondaries gave up embarrassing last second losses to Arkansas in 2002 (Not one but TWO Hail Marys in the final seconds) and his last game against Iowa in the 2004 Capital One Bowl on the last play of the game; among many others.....

I'm sure you are so happy to not have to deal with Saban's coaching deficiencies anymore. LSU fans are so lucky to not have him roaming the sidelines in BR.

Seems they have done fine at safety. Plus its not like every player on the team can have a long and fruitful pro career.

One thing I have noticed about Bama DBs agains Ole Miss the last few years is they seemed very aggressive to pursue the run which led them to get beat on passing plays downfield.
