He is a sleazy snake but Freeze is the first and best choice. The whole fake super Christian thing is revolting but Hugh knows how to win and how to build a team back up. I would make him say no before I went looking for someone else.

You'd know more than me, being a Florida fan. All I saw was two straight East titles, 10–4, 9–4 (with a tenth win against FCS canceled), and then fired midway through the third season at 3–4. Underwhelming by Florida's post-80s standards, but not "terrible" by almost any metric.
He built Colorado State and is currently rebuilding Central Michigan with some degree of expediency. He's really not a bad coach, just not a great one, and also just a poor fit for Florida.

Unfortunately, it is not an attractive job right now with how Clemson is performing. No one wants to play them every year plus an SEC schedule.
