Cal says something stupid to drum up Kentucky fans for basketball, Stoops leaves in January.

What's up with the boards obsession with Stoops leaving UK lately?

Seems like a lot of folks are hoping that he exits the higher he elvates their program. They both seem happy to be in Lexington & I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them there for the long haul. They're each good fits in their own way

Id say Cal has maybe 3 seasons left in him at most. He doesn't want to coach forever.

Calipari. He’ll keep stockpiling recruits and eventually he’ll do absolutely nothing with the talent he’s accumulated. Again.

Cal will retire if he wins a title in the next 2-3 years. Stoops will leave after this season, assuming he gets a higher quality job offer. I would have to be Iowa, or a perennial top 10 teams.

At this point the safe money is on Stoops being here longer than Cal. Cal has said he doesn't want to coach forever and that this is his last job. It feels like he's gonna be here a few more seasons then retire. Stoops has been here 10 yrs, he's still got a lot of life left in him. And as he just acknowledged with the Nebraska rumors, he's not done building what he's started here. This is his program. Kentucky basketball is Adolph Rupp's program and Cal knows that.

I believe this will be Stoops final season in Lexington. He has done all he can do for the program and will move on while his value is at its peak.

It also does not help that Luke Fickell is now taking his recruits.

No but Stoops has the name and given a Basketball school a golden age in football.

Hopefully Stoops. If cal stays much longer and Stoops continues an upward trajectory with footall, football will overtake the basketball program in quality

I'd like to see Stoops stay. We need some new blood over there in the East.

It would also be hilarious to see UK get to Atlanta before Ole Miss and Aggie.

Stoops is going to get an opportunity at a football school sooner rather than later but he seems to be very calculating. He's not gonna pull a Scott Frost. He's gonna go where he has the resources, the conference, the support and the recruiting base. He'll stay at UK until the perfect situation. Kirby Smart turned down numerous jobs waiting on that great job to come open.
