That's always been the case with Alabama. Georgia has rarely been a slouch either.

UGA more than Alabama, but I'm more concerned with literally every other school in the SEC recruiting better than us.

I disagree. The SEC will save OU. The next Nebraska will be a team that has no base to recruit from, who used to enjoy national prominence. Think Miami.

Oklahoma is on a 75 year run as one of the best programs in the country. They’ve had a grand total of four losing seasons since WWII, while winning seven NCs.

They’ve done it a lot longer, in different eras, and with several different coaches.

Nebraska hit the goldmine by hiring back to back great coaches in Bob Devaney and Tom Osbourne that combined to coach for nearly 40 years.

OU had seven coaches during that same span, and that doesn’t include Bud Wilkinson who predated Devaney, or Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley that were hired after Osbourne retired at Nebraska.

OU will always have easy access to Texas talent. Their proximity to fertile recruiting grounds better insulates them from one of the main factors that contributed to Nebraska’s downturn.

OU won’t win 10+ games every single year going forward, but I doubt they will sink to the level of Nebraska.

Miami has always been sort of a round peg in a square hole. Back in the 60s until they got great in the mid to late 80s they were a party school for rich white frick ups from yankeeland. Their football team was a reflection of the student body. Then Howard Snellinburger went down to the ghetto in Miami and got some players that could play and the rest is history. Now, I sense that Miami is reverting back to what it originally was. Not quickly mind you, but reverting just the same.

And why will it be the Oklahoma Sooners? Once they join the SEC they will be irrelevant. We all know it's coming.

Nebraska is Siberia and Tom Osbourne can't wheelchair back through that door

Modern day OU and Nebraska don't even recognize each other

This is why it won't be ou. They might not maintain the level of always being in the CFP conversation year over year after they move to the SEC, but they also won't completely fall off the cliff.

Nebraska first lost their prop 48 fight with Texas when the Big 12 formed, then they cut off their top recruiting grounds by leaving the conference, all while making terrible decisions at the head coaching position. I don't see them fully recovering...there was a time Minnesota was a national force too...like Minnesota, Nebraska's days as a power are over.

I don't see it, as long as they have a good coach who can recruit they will stay relevant. Too many recruits in Southern Cal that idolize USC. Riley is young and can recruit, they haven't even played a game yet and the hype train on the west coast is already full steam ahead.

Now we just have to see if he can finally win a playoff game.

They don't have the fan support like they had in the past and they have to compete with the rams that recently moved in the area which hurts fan support. The state favors pro sports a lot more than college. Then the state is poached by other elite programs around the nation. Besides the PC years, they have been mediocre for years before and after his arrival.

Lincoln Riley will burn out at Southern Cal because he has smartass attitude and isn't a competitor since he cowardly left Oklahoma before they will join the SEC.

As much as we have all made fun of OU for following Texas around like they are the Longhorns' gimp (and rightfully so), you have to give them credit for understanding that without easy access to Texas recruits, they are finished, and doing whatever is necessary to keep that pipeline open and not pull a Nebraska. They'll do fine in the SEC.

I think you may be surprised, OU will be fine. I think eventually Clemson will be the team that drops off.
