Who the hell came up with “The Sip” tagline. It is so cringey

Which co-ed came up with that… and Lane thought it was a good idea? I mean Louisiana is called “The boot” bc it looks like one and people actually have referred to it as such for many years. Seems like this is Mississippi’s desperate attempt to be cool. Never ever heard of the state being referred to as “the Sip”. Not ONE person I know from MS ever says they are from “The Sip.” The Ole Miss PR machine is trying so hard to make this a “thing” but it’s not working.

Well, probably better than having your coach grind on players. It works for us. Croots seem to like it.

It looks more like a toilet than an actual boot if we are being honest.

People in Mississippi have been saying the ‘sip for a long time
Usually they are black people who do this so not surprised you’ve never interacted with them

No they haven’t. I grew up about 15 minutes from the MS border and not once did I ever hear anyone say “the sip” until Kiffin wanted to trend on twitter

This article predates Kiffin at Ole Miss

When did ‘the ‘Sip’ become an acceptable nickname for Mississippi? (And why?)
I speak of “the ‘Sip,” which seems to have gained some measure of currency as a nickname or slang term for our state.
LINK
and there is The Sip Magazine website that predates Kiffin at Ole Miss
For nearly five years, The ‘Sip celebrated life and culture in Mississippi with stories and photographs by professional journalists and award-winning photographers. The high-quality, quarterly publication provided a fresh and unrivaled look at some of Mississippi’s best assets and best-kept secrets. Take a sip of the South!
