In my opinion it has to be les miles. He is so lucky to win the 07 NC since he had 2 bad losses to bad teams. The stars just aligned right for him to get a chance to play for the title. He handcuffed his coordinators and ruined talented quarterbacks careers and failed to adapt his offense. He was also a total fraud who portrayed himself as a family man but was a total creep. He did not build anything. Nick saban built the program and les inherited a great situation.

Chizik lucked into the best player his first year but couldn't do much without him. That being said, he is my favorite tv commentator.

Another question is who was the worst human being to win a championship ?

Joe Pa, Urban, and Orgerin are up there.

Tough choice.

Larry Coker and Les Miles inherited loaded rosters and managed to only win 1 title each with those rosters before the talent left and things fell apart. Miles did somewhat rebuild his team's roster, unlike Coker.

Chizik and O landed a once in a generation transfer QB. Both did nothing before and after that QB left. Chizik actually coached while O is a mascot.

Comes down to Coker and O. Once again, Coker actually coached and O is a mascot.

So the worst coach to win a championship is coach O.

O wouldn’t have won in 2019 if he didn’t have Aranda and Brady

2010 was the second year of Chiziks tenure.

So, he wouldn't have won without coordinators is what you're saying?

Larry Coker hands down. My dead grandmother could have coached that '01 Canes team to a national championship.

I know this is a troll thread, but in terms of serious responses this is the only possible answer for this century.

Coker took over a successful program and led it to a slow decline but it took 6 years. Not only did he win a title, he also won 9 or more games in 5 of his 6 seasons.

Orgeron was horrible at Ole Miss, but had a pretty successful stint as USC interim and his time at LSU outside the title year hasn't been horrible.

Chizik had exactly 1 season in his entire career with fewer than 5 losses. The fact that a guy with a career 5-19 record was hired away from that job to run a big-6 program is the best example of failing up in history.
