Who do you think will be the premiere RB in the SEC this season?

I’ll present some next level data from last season to kick it off and let you decide which is the most important factor (all numbers are among returning RBs).

Yards after contact

Tank Bigsby – 3.9
Brian Robinson – 3.8
Isaiah Spiller – 3.5
John Emery – 3.4

% of runs that went for 5+ yds
Brian Robinson – 50%
Tank Bigsby – 48%
Chris Rodriguez – 47%
Jerrion Ealy – 42%

Broken tackle rate
Tank Bigsby – 22%
Chris Rodriguez – 17%
Jerrion Ealy – 14%
Brian Robinson – 14%

If I had to choose, I’m going Tank due to his upside. Elite contact balance & explosive. Looking forward to seeing what he can do through a complete season when fully healthy.

Bigsby has a trash oline and no receivers to help him. And Gus ran him into the ground laat year.

Kevin Harris should probably be in the conversation.

Harris deserves to be in the discussion.

If AU can keep from running Tank into the ground then he has the best shot.

Not sure how everyone’s OL is this year but Ole Miss returns 4/5 starters and just added a grad transfer starter from the PAC-12. I am not sure what defines premier but Ealy should have a really nice year. Ole Miss subs a lot at RB though.

He really didn’t. Tank didn’t play that much the first couple of games and only had 20+ carries 3x.

Against Bama Bigsby could hardly run, and couldnt break any tackles. He played four games in a row where he got double digit carries and then he was spent.

He's not a big back. He needs a complimentary back to take some of the load off him. Gus loved to ride his RBs to the bone. Maybe Harsin will do better. Honestly it would be hard to manage your RBs much worse.

Well we know it sure isn’t John Emery

He averaged 29 yards per game in 19 games

Yep. With an OC and QB to finally open up the box he’s going to put up some ridiculous stats.

Another Daniel comment from left field.
Hint-the best sec running back is going to be whoever bama trots out.

Oh I do agree with that. But it took Gus a few games before he realized what he had and once he did he realized he didn't have any depth there.

Also agree.

But Luckily Tank only played one shortened season for Gus and wasn't the starter the whole time. He should still have some tread left on the tires.

Give me the Tank, but don’t give me Auburn’s OL.

He had 138 carries last year.

As for him not doing anything against Alabama, yeah, he was hurt. He got a hip pointer against Tennessee when a Tennessee DL tossed him on his hip after the play was essentially over.

Mini-Benny has the o-line in front of him, a new offensive scheme to open up the running lanes and the experience.

I think the premier running back in the SEC has yet to prove himself on the field. He will. He always does.
