Kirby, and quit calling me Smart. No other human being on this earth dressed as a football head coach would allow his 5 star QB to sit on the bench and continue to QB the scout team, believing, believing, mind you, heart and soul, this walkon is all that.

1) JTs dad says he wasn't ready. You calling him a liar?
2) JT asked to be on the scout team because he wasn't healthy enough to be the #2. Smart business move, imo.
3) the scout teamer was beating bama at halftime. He was better than Mathis and Beck. He just wasn't built to take the hits throughout a big game (or our OL was nowhere near good enough to give him protection like Mac).

In all honesty, and I am not saying this to knock my friends from Florida. I think Dan Mullens might be the most over rated coach in the SEC.
I am not saying he's the drizzling poo and should be burned at the stake. I am saying with the talent he has the results are not what they should be.
You could, conceivably, put Lane Kiffin at the top of that list. Again, not to insult my friends from Ole Miss, but Kiffin has had a nasty habit of doing really good and then completely pooping the bed. Maybe he's broken that habit... I think he deserves a chance to show he's turned the corner.

With Gus gone, it’s probably Kirby or secondarily Jimbo Fisher. 2021 is win the SEC and/or make the playoffs or else time for Kirby. 2017 is becoming ancient history.

In the history of the SEC? Probably Johnny Majors. Didn’t have a top 20 finish at Tennessee until his ninth season, only finished ranked in the AP rankings six times overall, and had an atrocious 4-12 record against Tennessee’s biggest rival, Alabama. Fulmer was a backstabber but Tennessee also performed noticeably better when he served as their interim coach in 1992 compared to Majors because Majors’ players hated playing for him.

Also,
There have been 221 Coaches in FBS since Kirby Smart started at Georgia
Here’s the list of coaches that have 50 wins, a conference championship & played for a national title since then:
Saban
Dabo
Kirby
That’s the list....3 out of 221

Dan Mullen.
The guy gets rave reviews for being an offensive wizard but is a mediocre motivator, game planner, and leader.

Which current SEC coach has a better track record in their first 5 years as a HC?
