First time I got on here today, scanned the board and saw the subject and thought we’d fired Chad. But we haven’t and now I’m sad. And it’s friday, don’t be teasing on a Friday!

I'd say go with an unknown that you can get cheap. These continuous multimillion dollar buyouts have got to be depleting someone's bank acct. somewhere.

Brent Venables.
That would be a great way to troll us Aggies way more than hiring an Aggie.
We fricking hate hate hate Brent for how he negative recruited us very successfully at OU.

Venables is so damn socially awkward he very rarely even does press interviews. No way he ever goes after a HC job.

Why not the mad hatter? He is making great improvements at Kansas and knows the SEC quite well.

A&M has passed Arkansas as an overall program. That happened over the last 5-7 years. There is no reason A&M should ever lose a game to Arkansas, Ole Miss, Or MSU. Losing one out of five would be reasonable, but abnormal.

You wanna go down that road again? Petrino has ruined every program he's coached.

Based on what? they haven't done anything in the SEC that we haven't done. We even made an SECCG within our first 5 years in the league.

Based on head to head wins, recruiting, facilities, and general commitment toward winning.
Arkansas doesn't even want to pay Bielema's buyout anymore. That should go well for you guys.

A&M has always recruited better than us, doesn't make them the better program. Saying they're passing us based on the last 8 years when we've been through the worst stretch in our history is like saying we're clearly superior to them when we had Petrino and they had Sherman and we were 3-0 against them. But by all means let's judge a 5-7 year sample size against decades of other evidence.
If he didn't comply with the terms of his contract then why should we have to?

God I'd hope they'd recruit better than us with a 75 mil coach and 300 mil stadium upgrade, not including facility upgrades. Jesus.

Honest question: Do you think Arkansas has the level of commitment to football right now to compete in the SEC West?
You almost have no choice at this point, but to make a splash hire and try to land at least a single top 15 class. The top of the SEC West (and that does not include A&M by any means) is distancing itself even further in terms of quality athletes and depth. Almost to the point where coaching doesn't even matter to those programs. They can just roll talent out onto the field and out-athlete teams.

Does Arkansas have a relatively recent player/grad who’s looking to make a career outta coaching?
This may be the perfect time to bring in an interim HC to fire up the fanbase—someone who will inject some momentum into the program.
Kind of like a Major Applewhite or Kliff Kingsbury or Scott Frost guy—but for Arkansas.
