I know a lot of Florida folks can't stand Scott Stricklin, but I believe Florida has the most teams ranked in the top 25 since last fall.

Volleyball
Gymnastics
Basketball
Softball
Baseball
Men's S&D
Men's tennis
Women's tennis
Lacrosse
Women's Indoor T&F
Men's Indoor T&F
Women's XC

I haven't talked to anyone associated with The Tide that has any problem with Greg Byrne. I believe that he's top drawer.

I thought this was about ADs?

So, Del Conte sucks for winning the Directors cup 3 of 4 years and having
highest value athletic program in the country by 14 million???

So, if he sucks for that, how do you rank Trev Alberts?

Keith Carter robbed Ole Miss out of their first and only chance at a national championship all because of his fragile ego. Then he made an emotional hire in Pete Golding.

I’m usually one who is hesitant to make predictions about anything, but I’m confident in predicting this will go down as one of the worst hires in Rebel history. It’s actually quite funny watching them talk themselves into what a “great hire” it was. Dude is going to face plant in epic fashion.

The Saban coaching tree has more branches than any other. The “coach in waiting” never works. Here is list of current coaches (not complete) that coached under Saban.

Smart
Kiffin
Lanning
Sarkisian
Cignetti
Key
Cristobal
Locksley
Golding

There is another list of NFL coaches, and another of former college coaches.

Saban’s problem was simply human nature. The talented assistants and coordinators all wanted to leave to become head coaches, not wait an unknown number of years to have a chance at becoming Alabama head coach.

Just depends on if Pete would've given up 37 points again.

It’s Cohen and it’s not close. He’s done wonders at Auburn

Easy, Chris Del Conte, Texas AD. Why do you think it's called the Directors Cup?

Chris Del Conte has led the University of Texas to four Learfield Directors' Cup titles during his tenure as athletic director. These victories occurred in the 2020-21, 2021-22, 2023-24, and 2024-25 seasons, marking the award being won four out of the last five years.

Greg Byrne has win 1 cup.
Fanny White has finished 3rd once.

I give Del Conte a lot of credit for delivering a kill-shot with his baseball hire (we got an exceptional coach while simultaneously crippling our in-state rival). Winning the SEC regular season his first year was gravy.

To be fair, revenue for the athletic department is never a bad thing. If boosters/doners see return on investments then that’s always a bonus to keep investing in players we are after. In this day and age with paying players, all of the moolah is king. We will differ, but I think he’s done quite well. Making money to make the fan experience better will always be the forefront. I do agree the price outs are dog water, but we are just in a crappy era of college athletics. To the other side of the coin, there is a waiting list for tickets, so that also means people are buying and willing to buy. I’d rather make money than lose it and Pandora’s box is open at this time.

Edit: the coaching hires are to be seen. I’ll give Caldwell one more season but she needs to dramatically change some things. And my bad for the long post.

It damn sure isn’t Greg Byrne. He’s BBQ buddies with Gregg Sankey and Paul Finebaum.

Byrne, no question. As for the Deboer that was Byrne trying to meet all of the criteria set by expectations. The football opening is the one job you have to placate boosters. I have a feeling if it was up to Byrne himself, he would've hire someone completely off the radar.

The Director's Cup is the benchmark for across the board athletic department dominance, despite what all of you bitter figs will admit. If you ever won one you'd brag about it. Texas and Florida are at the top of the SEC in this discussion.
