It’s funny how easy it is to name the top SEC program in football, basketball and baseball, the arguments start when naming the #2 programs in each sport.
With Texas coming in, they challenge LSU with their rich baseball history, does Oklahoma challenge Alabama for top spot in football? Neither challenge UK in shooty hoops.

As of Monday night, it's us. Here's to hoping we can tie it back up.

If you’re talking about History wise it has to be Florida, Vandy or South Carolina. But if you’re talking about right now and recently as in the last 3 years or so it would be Tennessee.
Last 3 season for UT
Wins- 152 (.755%)
NCAA APP- 3
SEC Champs (Tournament)
SEC Champs (Regular Season)
East Champions- 2
Regional Championship- 3
Supers Championship- 2
Omaha Appearances-2

Remember, State was the cream of SEC baseball for a long time under Ron Polk, and it took Skip awhile to surpass them. It's odd that they didn't keep pace better, and at least match the three you listed.

10 years ago this was an obvious answer. We have let ourselves slide, and others rise.
Props to both O'Sullivan and Corbin. It appears Vandy had zero history before Corbin, so hats off to that man. O'Sullivan is getting to title games, so you can't knock it.
This year felt like a right step towards getting back to being one the SEC's elites, hopefully next season we continue on. We could use a solid starting pitcher or two (hey Chase :) )

CWS Total
Miss State = 12

SC = 4
This is very wrong. SC has like 11 trips to the CWS. we have 6 finals alone.

sorry to triple post here.
It should be mentioned that under Bobby Richardson SC was in the CWS finals 2x in the 70's. Our history isnt just under Ray tanner. Ray just took us to a different height

As of today it’s South Carolina. Once Texas and Oklahoma join, it’s Texas and won’t be close.
1. LSU
2. Texas
3. South Carolina
4. Vandy
Everyone else

and I do love how debatable this one can be. imo it wasnt debatable until yall got your 7th.
The sheer # of wins, appearances for Texas is incredible. The 6 titles are amazing
but does 7 titles trump 6 and being there a ton. Probably so, but its a fun argument by 2 deserving teams.

They have titles from:
1949
1950
1975
1983
2002
2005
So much like USC (Southern Cal), they have very little to show in recent history. Until 2002, their most recent was the early 80’s. They have 36 appearances with 6 titles while LSU has 18 appearances with 7 titles. LSU has won the whole thing 39% of the times they’ve made it there while Texas has won the whole thing 17% of the time.
I don’t really think it’s a very debatable thing. LSU is by far the most successful baseball program in the SEC, both now and once Texas joins. It’s also not debatable that Texas is going to be by far the second most successful baseball program in the conference.

Where it becomes debatable is yes you won 38% of the time you made it, but making it is still an elite 8 finish. So almost 50% of the years they are finishing in the top 8 in the country. You can't dock them for finishing higher than you more regularly. Its also a National title in 5 different decades which shows longevity. I think its very debatable

I mean it's SC for sure but Florida and Vanderbilt are both better programs right now unfortunately.

Wait, I was wrong.
Texas will be #2 when they join. Over FL and State.
The question would be...who would be #3...UF, USCe...or Oklahoma (2 titles, 11 appearances, and has made it in the last 2 seasons).

They lost in a regional this year.
Finals last year
under .500 in 2021.
I do think it would be OU or SC for #3 though. It could go either way. They have 2 titles and one runner up. SC has 2 titles and 4 runner ups. They have conference titles on us, but we werent in a conference for 20ish years

Agree. Better and more engaged fan base than Florida (for sure) and Vanderbilt.

it will stay that way as long as the fans that grew up at the sarge are around. I am sure the old Box was that way, but it was just a tight knit group.

So in the 77-year history of the college world series era, Texas has won a title 6/77 times and LSU has won 7/77 times.
I'm not debating which program is better; LSU is because they have more championships. But LSU has not won the college world series 39% of the time (and Texas has not won it 17% of the time either)

XWing spent all last weekend watching Daddy LSU play baseball because Texas has only won 2 titles in the last 40 years
