Usually when a coach starts to slip, he wins back to back national championships.

Checks out.

Shug Jordan was class epitomized and a GD stand up gentleman. He was flying into NY to buy his clothes from the original Brook Brothers store in the 50s, decades before Brooks Bros was FAF.
In fact, Brooks Brothers is where Shug got the Hounds Tooth hat that he wore before Bear Bryant. Even Bryant knew that Shug was a stylish suave gentleman, but he couldn't do it as well, his was from a local Birmingham tailor (weak af lol ) LINK

Racism, alcohol, and domestic violence were hardly the province of southern coaches.

3 times to LSU from 1964 to 1982.
