Miles is a better recruiter than Chizik, isn't a yes man, and has a track record of winning even at a non elite program. This isn't even close.

.. Even if we are.. right now I would rather have Chizik as my coach. He has coached under tubs, and brown. Been apart of 3 undefeated teams in 7 years. learned the tampa 2 straight from coaches like dungy and lovie smith while at UCF and they were with the bucs. Puts together a great staff and will continue to do so because coaches love to coach under him.Plus has brought in the talent to Auburn like no other coach before him has.. pretty much equal to miles in that department.

it's not suprising that most fans would rather keep there own coach than trade for a rivals coach.

Honest question, is the OP's question based solely on coaching ability?

He might be insane, but Les can still take credit for strong recruiting, risky/timely playcalls, more than a few entertaining/incoherent soundbytes and a solid graduation rate. Not to mention his loyalty and the fact his players follow him like he's the Pied Piper. Oh, and he still wins.

If you factor in all that, I think Les is worth a trade.

Only 3 of 12 SEC coaches have survived more than 4 years in the toughest conference in the Nation.(see Urban Meyer for how that wears a on a man)

of those, Miles has the best record, the only NC, the best bowl win %, the best BCS record and the right "intangibles"..aka very little controversy off the field , a high grad rate and earned respect of his peers.

So once the other 7 can "do it" for a long time and build up some longevity in the postion please feel free to step up and compare.

Just read the responses to this thread. I am honestly shocked at how little respect Miles is given in terms of coaching ability. Nobody seems to recall his success at Oklahoma State. They didn't have anywhere close to the talent as OU and still beat them all the time. I certainly understand that Saban, Petrino, and Mullen are great fits for where they are and shouldn't be traded. But some of you are going to tell me Houston fricking Nutt is a better coach? Or Muschamp..what the hell has he done? Miles took over a great program that Saban left, and we are the best SEC program since Miles got here if you go by statistics. Muschamp is also taking over an elite program, and we have no clue what he will do.

Miles is 3-3 vs nutt, but he is also 3-3 vs Meyer and 2-2 vs saban. Our talent level wasn't that strong in 08 and 09 due to attrition and some overrated recruits. He inherited some great players, had a better year in 05 than saban did in 04, and has had two great recruiting classes. Those classes were 09 and 10 and the 11 class looks just as strong.

Taking dooley over miles is nonsense.

I sincerely wish we could bring him back. Not as a head coach, but as a recruiting coordinator and as an assistant on the D-line. Our 2008-2009 seasons were very good because of his recruiting. He proved that we can get Atlanta worthy talent to come to Ole Miss.

I don't care how good he is at bringing in talent. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our program again. We'd be under investigation so much with him on staff. No thank you.

No i wouldn't. Les is a good coach but i don't think X and Os wise he is as good as petrino. He does out recruit petrino regularly though.

Yeah Petrino is a good fit for Arkansas and I don't think it would be in the program's best interest to get rid of him for Miles.

But UT, Ole Miss and Florida fans are acting retarded here. You are going to take the fricking La Tech coach who hasn't done a damn thing as an HC over a 62 win coach (in 6 seasons)? You are going to take Will Muschamp who hasn't been an HC for one game, and whose team was the biggest underachiever in the country last year? And Houston Nutt..all I can do is pity you.

my coaching order of best SEC west coaches because the east is a cluster frick right now with spurrier being the obvious best coach followed by a bunch of nobodies
1. saban
2. miles
3. chizik ( he's getting this because of staff management and obligatory nc hype)
4. Petrino
5. nutt and mullen tied because mullen hasn't done shite in all reality.
