If we didn't do the shut down, that could have easily happened.

Do rednecks not understand cause and effect?

This is already killing far more than most of y'all reds ever expected, and that was WITH a shut down. How many would need to die for you to say it isn't ridiculous?

I think it will start on time, but be interrupted by a spike of cases in December or November.

Well, that's just not true. The fear mongers were saying it was going to kill 4 million people.

That's not true. The mortality rate is way, way lower than people thought, because far, far more people are or have been positive for it than people thought.

I wasn't referring to fear mongers like Trump's crew who said 2.2 million IF WE DID NOTHING. I am referring to the "its just the flu" guys thinking it wouldn't even kill 10k.

That's pretty much my point. Even "Trump's crew" was impacted by expectations that are not and will not become a reality.

The other point is that while this isn't nearly as bad as the worst case scenario, its still far worse than the best case scenario. By the end of today, it may have killed 75K in about 5-6 weeks, and that is WITH interventions. If that continues, or gets worse, its hard to believe the season is gonna be normal.

It’s ridiculous to try and guess what the virus will do over time. Mortality rates, infection rates, etc. are all statistics that are revealed only when we look back at the effects of a new virus. No one knows what they are right now.

Currently, Illinois will not allow gatherings greater than 50 people until there is a vaccine.

This will kill big ten football unless they change their standards.

Note: as most know, Illinois is one of the most ill managed states.

The deaths have been far lower because in most places, we bent the curve so that the critical could be taken care of by the medical system. If you want to see the alternative, look at New York and Italy. Granted, we have some built in advantages in the southeast like the weather and most of us not living on top of each other like metro NYC. But even in Birmingham and New Orleans and Albany, GA we had some hot spots that were really ugly.

The main problem is we tried to use a one size fits all solution for the whole country when everyone's locale is different. Most of America didn't need to be shut down. Some places that did need it, didn't do it or didn't do it fast enough. Most everybody went along with it when it wasn't completely necessary. But a lot of that is hindsight too.

Exactly!

Screw the one-size-fits-all system that treats the entire country like they're NYC. It's time to act appropriately and open up areas where there has been on low impact from this virus.

If common sense prevails, 100%.

If nutters with agendas get their way, 0%.

If a player on a team tests positive during season, what happens?

Exactly my concern. Does that whole team get shut down along with the last team that they played?

What do they do anytime someone gets sick?

They should do the same thing.

This hasn't exactly been treated like any other illness though, has it?
